heard of a lot of people saying good things about Lamar but didn't want to give him a lesson till the album dropped

and i have to say i'm not impressed.. dont get the fascination.. The horrible hooks ruin pretty much every song for me

although i admit i was listening to it while trying to read a paper... i'll give it another listen

I went to Best Buy and Target last night (8:45ish), both were out. I guess that's a good sign for him...even though I'm still without it.

Bomber, he can be a bit of an acquired taste. His hooks tend to annoy me on first listen - much of it because of his sound - but they grow on my about 95% of the time.

But yeah, if hooks are all you're looking for, he isn't going to be your favorite rapper (though, a lot of them are solid, and almost all of them are wildly unique).

Or it just means you don't like his music. I think he's great, but don't take it too far. Not liking Kendrick Lamar (or any artist for that matter) isn't an indictment on someone's musical tastes.

I loved this album and Kendrick Lamar. Channel orange wasn't that impressive to me personally. I bumped it for a weak, but it wasn't that good. Not in the same conversation as this album.

Channel Orange has held up for me, so in the time being, it is better than this. That will likely change.

However, whoever doesn't like the hooks needs to take another listen. Kendrick has some of the most hypnotic, captivating hooks in Hip-Hop... sometimes. Other times, they're weak. But hooks are only one part of the genre. Beats, lyrics, storytelling, ability to just create a unique sound.. and he pulls the strings on those to a perfection.
