I would love to trade him in the right deal. He's a nice prospect with alot of tools, and he's shown that he can use those tools more often than he gets given credit for. He's made steady progress through the minors, he's done a crap ton of physical growing in that time (he's grown ~3 inches and gain many pounds as a Cub - mostly muscle), and if you can polish him up there's a possible starter in there somewhere. He's still got plenty of power projection in him...

Yeah, if he can up the power a bit more, continue to work on his improved plate disciple, and stick at SS, he could be a great prospect.

I don't know if you get enough for him to justify trading him. He's pretty much boom or bust

He just looks like a classic tweener to me. He's not going to field well enough to justify an premium spot, and he's not going to hit enough to justify a corner spot.

My feeling on him as well. I think he needs to make a full time move to RF but I'm not convinced his bat will profile there.

I feel like his bat and glove could be pretty valuable at 2B, but he hasn't really played there yet defensively. He'd be an enourmous 2B as well.

I think a few stolen bases and Rick Ankiel-like highlight reel throws from RF are all that will come out of Lake's career. I just don't think he'll hit for an avg/make enough contact, get on base, or hit for much power at the major league level, while playing RF.

His position is the main thing that makes him interesting, and everyone thinks he'll move.

That really puts him in a bad spot defensively. You are taking away his best defensive asset, his arm, and putting him at a position that requires range, flexibility and dexterity, none of which are his strong suits.

I realize this, and don't want to waste his huge arm as an asset. But if he can't stick at SS, 3B, and doesn't hit enough for the OF, where do you put him? I have read he is a pretty good fielder as well.

In the "interesting athlete who just didn't pan out" pile with 95% of the other prospects.

I'd hope they'd at least try him at 2B before they just considered him someone who didn't pan out.

Whatever happened to Reggie Golden? He was the Junior Lake of the OF like a year ago.

Tore his ACL after 7 games last year. I'm guessing he'll start out in Kane County next year.

BTW, the first page still says Peoria Chiefs are our single-A affiliate. Just letting any of the mods or whoever know who might want to change it to Kane County.
