I agree, Gordon is not the kind of player the A's want/need. Would still like to aquire another impact player, we have excess OF and SP prospects, would love to see the A's flip them for any sort of infield help.

he believes....i'd be shocked if Drew only gets 1 guaranteed year in this market. He can easily get 3-4 from Arizona, Detroit, Boston

I actually think it's pretty smart for Drew. His last two seasons were injury shortened and unimpressive, maybe there aren't as many teams out there offering the 3-4 year deals for the kind of money he's looking for. He can use the 1 year deal as an audition; if he plays well he can opt for FA and get his big multi-year deal, if he doesn't play well he will still have that player option for 2014.

Yeah, exactly what Beltre did by signing that one year deal with Boston. Although Boston is quite a bit better for hitters than Oakland is...

I think that means they will resign Hamilton and probably trade for an SP like Dickey of Shieds. I feel like those moves would be good for this year but hurt the future.

Trading top prospects for Dickey is ****ing stupid. Also, i really hope the rangers don't get shields. He absolutely grabs our dicks and eats them for dinner. He owns us like a husband owns his wife

it would be foolish to give up 2+ prospects for Dickey.
I still think 2012 was a fluke. He is cheap, but old.

the mets would be wise to move him now for as much as possible.
they need to replenish their depleted farm.

knuckleballers put less strain on their arm. Age is less of an issue.

Sure, his velocity is less than that of other MLB pitchers... however, pitchers can get hurt in other places besides the arm.

Im not really sure if i think the Rangers will resign Hamilton. I can see them going for Upton maybe, but not Hamilton. Why would he even want to stay there when he got boo'd his last at bat?

I think you mean resign with the Rangers, not the Dodgers.

But the thing that renders pitchers ineffective as they get older is the strain pitching does to their arms. Knuckleballers and relievers generally have longer careers because they put less stress on their arms.

Very True. It isn't rare to see knuckleball pitchers still playing well into their 40's (ex. Phil Niekro, Tim Wakefield, Charlie Hough...). That optimally gives Dickey about 5 years left of service time. That aside, I still wouldn't want to deplete my farm system for a pitcher whose stats will without a doubt decline. Although it was a great "feel-good" story as well, I'm not sold on him yet. Dickey has only been dominant one year.
