There is no risk if he costs next to nothing. Anything you get out of him is gravy. Obviously you don't bank on him, but I don't see why a deal shouldn't be done.

Well why would it have to end with him? He could be one of a few.
Our rotation might look something like this as the current roster stands:
Anderson
Parker
McCarthy (I'm assuming he's brought back)
Milone
Griffin
Right now it looks like Straily and Blackley would be the first candidates to fill in if one of the first five goes down. We all saw how many SP's we used this past season, so I wouldn't mind bringing in Harden as long as it was on a minor league deal just for the extra insurance.
I say we try bringing McCarthy back and Harden. That would give us:
Anderson
Parker
McCarthy
Milone
Griffin
Peacock
Harden
Blackly
That would give us 8 good options, obviously Harden isn't a guarantee to be healthy, but I think that would give us depth.
Pass on Harden.
Guy has never completed a full season. Love his stuff, the change, split, and FB but he is more of a liability than a asset.
Apparently he had a torn capsule since 2007.

I read that a while back, what type of recovery is that? He missed all of 2012 so I would assume he should be healthy. I just don't see why we shouldn't, great stuff, we still have depth so if he gets hurt it wouldn't be awful .
SUPER PASS on Harden. Players have injury histories because they get injured! The guy os injury prone!!! Great arm, great person but he's to much of a risk. McCarthy would be better. At least he can string together some innings.
What's the point?
Why not just keep what we have, resign McCarthy and instead of Harden's couple starts keep one of our young pitchers up here so he can continue to develop at a major league level. I'd rather go with
Anderson
McCarthy
Parker
Griffin
Milone
Than
Anderson
McCarthy
Parker
Griffin/Milone or Griffin/Harden or Milone/Harden
if Harden's the "guy" to sign
-7chuck7Why in the world is it so important to get the calls right ?
Well one thing is for sure. We NEED our guys to stay healthy. If we can resign a healthy Mac, and continue our luck with a healthy anderson, then we will be dangerous as ****.

We're going to have injuries, every team does. I don't want Harden penciled in to one of our initial starting five, but I have no problem with him in AAA ready to fill in if a couple guys get hurt. In that scenario, we wouldn't be relying on him to pitch a lot of innings, maybe only 50-100.
Lol. I think Norris will be Napoli in another 2-3 years
