Jeter out for remainder of playoffs

Girardi just said it through press conference.

    Devastating blow.

Listen, we are down and out right now. This series is FAR from over. This team needs other players to start picking up their end.

I am tired of Swisher. Start Gardner. Nix will be the new short stop. Like it or not.

This is best of 7, not 5.

    We can do this.

We can still win this but this game hasn't instilled much confidence in this lineup at all. They seem to be falling further and further into ineptitude. And its not just getting unlucky - its seriously atrocious ABs.

I'm still confident in the team but its nothing to do with the lineup. The pitchers have been pitching their ***** off.

Big blow. Watching Mo, Andy, and now Jeter go down this season has been tough. The core 3 have really taken a beating.

    Win it for the captain!

If anything can rally the troops back from the sh**t hole they have been in. This is it.

This team can still win, even without Jeter. But they have to start grinding it out, every at-bat. No more chasing pitches out of the strike zone. Make the Tigers pitchers work. And stop swinging for the fences, stop pulling on the ball. Put the ball in play, keep the line moving.

This isn't the worst news in the world since it is not career threatening.

Having Jeter not in the lineup will open eyes and everyone will step their game up.

Trust me this sacrifice of Jeter is actually beneficial to the "team."

Everyone will improve their efforts to win.

He will mentor them from the bench in ways he couldnt rally them on before.

We needed something drastic to happen

    And now everyone is awake.

    Lets make a difference.

This is the optimistic way of looking at it, and I agree.

    Let's do hope it does.

Let's hope the bats start hitting them balls, and let's hope that no more boneheaded plays are made.

I don't really buy that losing one of the only hitters actually able to hit the ball is good for the team but I guess we can hope it wakes them up.

Nothing can wake these guys up, they are just chokers in the playoffs. I feel bad for our pitchers, they should be pissed.

Bold move by Girardi, if he's willing to do it:

    1 Suzuki (RF)
    2 Nix (SS)
    3 Teixeira (1B)
    4 Ibaņez (DH)
    5 Martin(C)
    6 Granderson (CF)
    7 Nuņez (2B)
    8 Chavez (3B)
    9 Gardner (LF)

If the "stars" aren't hitting anyway, why not take a chance on this line-up
