The Outfield and its defense is a lot better tho.
Progression with the Mets imo will take baby steps.
I tried making moves to compete (Davis, Arrencibia, Young, Affeldt) while spending a realistic amount of money.
Remember the quote in the paper. We won't increase payroll by much. I tried to somehow mix that into my realistic idea.
Speed added at the top of the lineup. (Since Bourn and Upton are too expensive)
Power improved at catcher. (DePodesta has ties with the Blue Jays who have D'Arnaud)
A center fielder who had a down year but is a solid ball player. (Not Justin Upton but more realistic)
One of the best lefty arms (We need a second lefty since Byrdak went down with injury)
plus an established American league closer who throws hard. (At age 24 Perez had an ERA in the 1's)
I would consider that a very successful offseason from the mets standpoint.
I dont know what more you could expect, realistically.
