Give me Grilli, JP Howell, or Juan Cruz (or a combination of the two) for the pen to start with via FA.
I know bullpen arms are bipolar but Cruz and Howell shouldn't cost much and have very good 2012 seasons.

I would bring back Jeff Keppinger too, he's a solid RH bat that can 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base.
He hit .325 last season in 385 AB.

Catcher: Russel Martin or Nick Hundley
OF: Alex Rios, Shinn Soo Choo, Chris Young, Jason Kubel, Gerrado Parra, McClouth, BJ/Justin Upton, Corey Hart (we need 2 of these guys)
Pen: Balfour, Howell, Grilli, Cruz, Peralta
The Mets need a RH bat to play 1st and 2nd base.
Why would Keppinger not be an option?
They also need a reliever from the right side and a reliever from the left side to tighten up this bullpen.
And Affeldt is out of the question considering the Mets aren't going to spend that type of money on a reliever.

Yeah good luck in the Mets acquiring any of those guys via trade besides Parra and Hundley with how tight they are on adding payroll this year.
Hart is better acquired in FA next year because the Mets would have to give up a **** load to get him, that also goes the same for Kubel.
Wow Hundley could be had for cheap, I had not considered him. They have Grandal now, so they don't need him.
Alderson is familiar working with the Padres because of his time with the Organization.
Hundley put up really good numbers when he was healthy and they have Yasmani Grandal.
Shoppach and Hundley sounds just fine to me as far as a catchers tandem.
Non tender Thole or keep him around as the new Mike Nickeas / 3rd catcher.
I agree totally. A Hundley and Shoppach catcher tandem sounds pretty damn good to me. I agree Stuna, he probs wouldn't cost all that much and could be a pretty great add to the team
Let's be realistic about 2013 will we?
The Mets are not adding the Uptons or Rios, even Young and Kubel making 7 and 7.5 million is most likely out of their price range.
It's gonna be another offseason of guys in the ilk of Andres Torres.
MetJets has a good list but the Mets don't have the money for most of those guys.
