    Cardinals (87-69) at Cubs (69-87) Sep 22-24

St. Louis Cardinals @ Chicago Cubs
Monday, September 22, 7:05 PM CDT , Wrigley Field
    Adam Wainwright, RHP

Wainwright is eyeing a second 20-win season and will carry a four-start winning streak into this outing. He has allowed two runs over his last three starts, of which two were complete games.
    Travis Wood, LHP

Wood scattered three hits over six scoreless innings in his last outing vs. the Reds, which was a big improvement after allowing seven runs over 1 2/3 innings in his previous start. He was miffed because he walked three.
Tuesday, September 23, 7:05 PM CDT , Wrigley Field
    Shelby Miller, RHP

Miller was hit in the right shin near the end of his last start, though he doesn't expect that to affect him on Tuesday. Miller has been sharp in September, allowing three runs (two earned) in 26 innings.
    Kyle Hendricks, RHP

Hendricks is going for his ninth quality start in 13 outings. He's allowed a combined three earned runs and 12 hits in 12 1/3 innings over two starts vs. the Cardinals.
Wednesday, September 24, 7:05 PM CDT , Wrigley Field
    John Lackey, RHP

After having his start pushed back three days while dealing with a dead arm issue, Lackey made his best start as a Cardinal on Friday. He was efficient through 7 2/3 innings and scattered six singles.
    Jake Arrieta, RHP

For the third time this season, Arrieta took a no-hitter into the seventh, but again came up short. He did notch his first complete game shutout in a 7-0 win, holding the Reds to one hit. It was an impressive outing as he fanned 13.

Big series, lets hope the cubs aren't putting in their best effort of the year

It'd be pretty sweet if the Pirates lost the next 2 games and the Cards won theirs and clinched the division at wrigley field..

I don't care where we clinch as long as we do.

Our last game of the season is Sunday at 3:10. There are no other games later than that in all of MLB. Pirates play at 12:10 and Milwaukee plays at 1:10. So most of it should be wrapped up (in MLB in general) before we even start our game. The Padres, Giants, Angels, Mariners, Dodgers, and Rockies also play at 3. Dodgers and Giants may not be settled yet. Angels already won their division.

We lost the season series 4-3. So we have to finish better. They own the tie breaker

We may not win the division if we keep goofing around like this.

I don't like our chances at this rate. We're 7-3 in our last ten, but the Pirates were 8-2. We're only 1.5 up now. We're also playing the Cubs, who we have a hard time beating despite the fact that they're so horrible. The Pirates finish with Atlanta this series and Cincinnati next. We have tomorrow with the Cubs and the finish with Arizona. We do have one more day off (Thursday) and the Pirates do not. Cincinnati and Arizona are both bad, though Arizona is worse.

I didn't have a problem with him facing Rizzo honestly.

Extra innings, you can't burn through a bullpen for every matchup.

But Neshek should really only face righties, yes.

Neshek is one of those guys who's fantastic to bring in for a stretch of 2-4 righties and a lefty is he isn't like a guy like Rizzo

That said last night, vs rizzo made sense IMO.

I had a feeling this would happen.

The pirates lost? I didn't see that coming

Yeah hopefully the reds stay hot and beat up on the pirates and the Braves take this last game from them as well.
