Bullpen Banter Joc Pederson scouting report

basically confirms everything every scout has been saying. There's a reason he's a top 40 hitting prospect, likely a top 100 prospect next year and all while only 20 years old.

The project him to be a 290-300 hitter, with 20+ homer and 20+ stolen base potential. Add the fact he gets on base a ton and we could have a very solid player. He's drawn comparisons to Matt Holliday(a left handed version) and Andre Ethier(but a better athlete with more potential).

hard to say, he seems to be a better pure hitter than Ethier(at the same point in their careers) and he has better batspeed.

he plays center right now but he's not a good center fielder. He possesses the athletic ability to do it but he doesn't get great reads on balls.

This is from what the article said and the writer admits he only saw Joc play for a couple games(the last 2 or 3 games where he played at Double A). With Jocs athletic ability I think he'll make a very good corner outfielder.

What the hell are we gonna do with Puig and Pederson waiting in the wings, I know too much depth is never a bad thing

And now with Crawford, I think their is a chance Pederson is shipped off in a trade hopefully for a top tier starter down the road, although I'd love to keep him and see what happens

I would rather trade Ethier IMO over Pederson

That could work in maybe like 2/3 years

IDK if the value would be good on a 33 year old Ethier but.......

That's why we trade him when he is 30

only problem is who would want to take on that salary?

Well it depends on the offer to be honest, I think we get better value trading him now instead of waiting until Puig/Pederson are ready to take over.
