I hope its the Dodgers!TOKYO -- Japanese high school pitcher Shohei Otani says he will pursue a career in Major League Baseball instead of turning professional in Japan.
Shohei Otani, a right-hander whose fastball has surpassed 99 mph, has been scouted by several MLB teams including the Dodgers and Red Sox.
Otani, a 6-foot-4 right-hander who has thrown a fastball between 99 and 100 mph, has been scouted by several major league teams including the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox.
The 18-year-old Otani said "I think I will start in the minor leagues but I want to challenge in the majors. It's been my dream since entering high school."
Otani was expected to go in the first round of Thursday's amateur draft in Japan.
If he signs with a major league team, Otani would become the first potential top draft pick to make the direct jump from a Japanese high school to the U.S.
im hoping the dodgers pull this off but i have a feeling hes going to NY or the rangers
LAKERS/RAMS/DODGERS/UCLA/MAN U/MEXICOShut it down. Let's go home.
I think tomorrow we learn who our next ace is for... 15-20 years?! Damn, this kid is only 18 and could probably pitch in the ML already. He won't, but probably could. The combination of he and Clay could add a new chapter of dominant duos in Dodger ace history.
I do believe this kid's decision guides who we pursue in free agency. If we land him I think we go after one of the older and slightly less attractive starters like Peavy or Kuroda, leaving Greinke to the beggars that will pay him ridiculous sums of money.
Yep. I believe tomorrow determines our free agent pursuit, and I'm feeling really good about it.

i understand this is a life altering decision, but....hurry up. Also, Dodger stadium is pitcher friendly and so are most of the parks in our division, also, there is no DH, you will love it.
