Span to #nationals. Upton to #braves. Revere to #phillies. Pagan back to #sfgiants. Is there a spot for Michael Bourn?

    Evan Massey ‏@EMasseyReport

Once again, Hamilton is NEARING a deal with the #Mariners. It's not complete yet, but I'm told its looking promising.

Sheesh! Bourn and Swisher might be running out of big money options. It seems that GMs are looking at how much people are overpaying and saying nah we'll let someone else overpay you.

Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York reports that the Yankees are listening to offers on Curtis Granderson.
Phil Hughes and Ivan Nova are also reportedly being shopped. The Yankees are in serious cost-cutting mode with the hope of scooting comfortably under the luxury tax threshold prior to the start of the 2014 season. Granderson, 31, batted .232/.319/.492 with 43 home runs and 106 RBI in 160 games this summer for New York. He's owed a $15 million salary in 2013.

Would love if the Tribe got in touch with NY and try getting a Choo for Hughes deal done. Choo would then come off their books next year opening up salary for them then in 2014 like they want. Also could replace Grandy if they do get rid of him and have Choo play right and Gardner in CF.

Not a bad idea..... I'd welcome that trade if we could replace Choo with Swisher or another legit bat.

Apperantly Seattle is talking to him now too. Seattle seems to be in on everyone the Tribe is right now (Youk, Swisher, Pelfry) with the exception of the Tribe being in on Hamilton.

Yeah... I don't want to talk about Hamilton.... Would love to have him, Santana, Choo, and Asdrubal in the same lineup lol He'll resign in Texas unless Texas can get Upton.

A guy coming off a 16-13 year with a 4.23 ERA in the AL East with a +1.5 WAR and 1.26 Whip that is only 26 years old who is in his final year of arbitration probably around 6 million and a lot better chance of re-signing him next year than Choo as he is a Boras agent. He would be a number two starter next year on this team and you always take pitching over hitting in baseball. If they could get someone with more control then I would love that more but it probably wont be at Hughes caliber.

Hughes is awful... he had a 4.56 FIP and 4.35 xFIP last season... good for bottom 15 among qualified pitchers. He gets 16 wins because he plays for the Yankees... those mean nothing. And a 1.26 WHIP is not impressive at all... pretty average. Just because he would be a "#2 starter" on one of the worst rotations in baseball doesn't a.) Make him any less bad or b.) Make it worthwhile to trade one of our most valuable players for him. Choo has way more value than Phil Hughes

His FIP numbers over the last 3 seasons are also bottom 15 among qualified pitchers, putting him in the same company with aces such as Freddy Garcia, Kevin Millwood and Fausto Carmona. He also gave up home runs at a higher rate during that span than any pitchers in the MLB not named Bronson Arroyo and Nick Blackburn. And those are the kinda guys you wanna trade Choo for? Please, spare me.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Indians are "in the best position" to sign Nick Swisher.
Olney notes that he's "not sure what situation Swisher will want," but it's clear with their offer to Shane Victorino that Cleveland has some money to spend, and they also have manager Terry Francona, who Swisher reportedly is a fan of. The Mariners look like the Indians' biggest competition for Swisher's services and appear determined to add hitting this offseason.
    http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/...ll-player-news

If they could obtain Swish and Youk then I would call that a good offseason offensively. Would probably keep Choo if this happens and see where they are at at the deadline and if they are close then just keep Choo and take the draft pick from him walking next offseason.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Diamondbacks have been working to get James Shields in the rumored potential three- to four-team trade.
The last version of the megadeal involved the D'Backs, Rangers, Indians and Mariners, with the D'Backs targeting Asdrubal Cabrera. It sounds as if in this version the teams, and obviously who would be getting what, would change. Olney says that if Arizona acquires Shields, it would allow them to deal one of their young pitchers, presumably for a shortstop.
    http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/...ll-player-news

Sounding like a deal could still get done with Arizona as just a straight two team trade with Cabs going there and prospects coming back. Would have no problem with this as Youk and Swish would fill in thru the lineup and the Tribe could get the young pitching they sorely need.

•The Astros landed starter Alex White and minor leaguer Alex Gillingham in exchange for Wilton Lopez.

This happened a couple days ago but nobody said anything so I thought I would post. Its looking more and more that White might not be anything more in his career than a long reliever. Hopefully he could get his stuff together in Houston but surprising that Colorado gave up on him this quickly. Still a bad trade for Ants though IMO as I think if Pomeranz ever gets out of Coors that he could be a legitimate #3 starter in the league if not more which would be better than what Ubs has been here.

•While the Indians are hoping to sign Swisher to a four-year deal in the $48-50MM range, his market has shifted and he might now command a four-year, $60MM contract, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio reports (on Twitter).
•The Indians may have offered Youkilis more than $18MM for two years, Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports (on Twitter).

Throwing Hafner money out at him. I would not go to 15 mill a year though for Swish even though he is consistent (not injured oft in 8 year career) could fill multiple positions (RF, 1B, DH) and is a switch hitter. A lot ot like about him at 12-13 mill though. Hopefully his market goes down once again when the Rangers finally figure out what the F they are doing. Them and DBags are holding everyone up it seems.
