Rose says Jeter won't break hits record.

I have been a dbacks fan since they have entered the league, when I was 12. But I have always liked Jeter, and I am rooting for him to break the record. Rose, for obvious reasons is not. Rose, mind you, had played till he was 45. I am not saying Jeter Will, but he could hang around to break it. Technically, if he wanted. So rose with these statements kinda reminds me of the 1972 dolphins. Anytime someone gets close or has a shot, they immediately go on attack mode and denounce them.

Jeter, Rose said, "had a great year this year, but you think he can do that again? At 39? A shortstop? Let's say he does it again. Let's say he gets 200 more hits next year. And let's say he gets 200 more hits when he's 40, though I don't think he can. OK, can he get 200 more hits when he's 41? You think he can?"

Rose continued, "I don't think he can get 200 more hits at 41, but let's say he does. OK, now he's 42. He's gonna get 200 more hits then? At 42? Let me tell you, I've been there, the body locks up. Jeter's a great hitter ... but he's gonna get 200 hits when he's 42? I don't think he will. And even if he does all that, he's still 150 hits short."

Well, this is a baseball messageboard to discuss stories in baseball. It was on the cover of ESPN. Seemed like it was in the news to me. Sorry ill check with you next time I post a thread, so it gets your approval first.

Don't worry.... I don't think Jeter stays around that long to break it

I don't think he can either. That doesn't denounce jeter as a player. It's just really freaking hard to do.

I think the big thing that is holding him back is his defense. The Yankees cant keep him at SS for much longer and he doesnt have the power anymore to justify DHing. Based on his offense, I could see him having 3 more years as a starter with 180+hits a season and then 3 more after that as a bench-platoon type player with 100 or so hits a season. That would get him close. The only problem is he couldnt play SS or 2B (Because of Cano), they probably wont move him to 3rd with Arod still there. If hes willing to move to Left and continue to be productive that could be his only shot.

Funny thing is, even if Jeter doesn't break his record, he still makes the HoF. Rose doesn't.

Rose is a jerk, but he's right. Jeter has no shot whatever.
