    Projection has Sox signing...

One of my favorite new blogs MLB Unique published their early predictions for the Top 75 FA's and has the Red Sox signing:

    62. J.P. Howell - Boston Red Sox (2 years, $11.5 M)
    49. Kyuji Fujikawa - Boston Red Sox (2 years, $9 M)
    40. Gavin Floyd - Boston Red Sox (3 years, $25.5 M)
    30. Cody Ross - Boston Red Sox (3 years, $18 M)
    9. David Ortiz - Boston Red Sox (1 year, $15, Vesting Option for 2014.)
    6. Nick Swisher - Boston Red Sox (4 years, $56 M)

    I'd be happy with that.

Swisher would be a mistake, Dont want Ross for more than 2 years (not bad though), Floyd is whatever, and someone hook a brother up with some info on Fujikawa.

That list is pretty weird. In what universe is BJ Upton better than Zach Greinke?

I don't know. Some of them are a bit odd, but at least it's something a little outside of the box. That's what I like about this Blog.

    Fujikawa is Japan's Mariano Rivera:

    Oh okay thanks.

Swisher i would really dislike. 3/25 for Floyd is alright. I would rather sign Haren though.

I agree with you. I'm a Haren fan. Floyd is very dependable, that's an upside.

I would love Dan Haren. He's actually really good and really underrated.

**** that much for Swish, and 3 years for Cody seems really meh too.

I can't see Ross settling on 2 years. Why would he?

2 years $11.5 for Howell, why? We have Breslow, Miller, Hill and Morales.

Well, IMO the blog is off on several predicitions. Hamilton to Braves? Bourn to Mets? Doubt it!

Our signings would be somewhat...meh. Howell? Ok. Japanese RP? Well, worked out before. Ross for 3 years? Would rather have him for 2! Ortiz ?sounds spot on! Floyd? Please no, can't see us signing Floyd when Haren is available, you gotta get Dan! And Swisher? 4 years is too rich, offer him 3yr/42.

If I were the Sox, I would sign Howell, Melky (if he's cheap), maybe the Japanese RP and Haren. Everything else via trade-route, i.e. 1B.

I looked at the Howell thing the same way. I guess, if you look at the price range on the higher end relievers (5-7 mill/year) the writer anticipates a bidding war on Howell? I mean, his numbers are ridiculously good, and I'd take him over our LHP corps, save for maybe Breslow, but it seems high.

The Atlanta thing I can see given that the Braves are only committed to $15 mill in players for next year, according to Cot's.

I would certainly look into trading Ellsbury this offseason. Sign Melky to a 1 year deal (so he can rebuild his value) and call up JBJ once he's ready with Melky shifting to one of the corner OF's.

I just personally hate Melky, and I don't see him doing that well in Boston with alot of media coverage. I would rather stick with signing Ross as a corner OF and if we cant get him then go for Swisher, because he crushes the wall at Fenway.
