Ruben Tejada produced three doubles in five at-bats and drove in two runs as Panama eliminated Nicaragua in World Baseball Classic qualifying Saturday.

Manny Acosta tosed a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one, in Panama's 6-2 victory.

Panama lost its opening game, 3-2, to Brazil. The host country plays an elimination game again Sunday, against Colombia.

To say our guys sucked in the AFL this year would be giving tham way too much credit. Thankfully, with these small samples, it doesn't mean much.

Ceciliani wasn't bad, and I saw him hit the ball well a few times when I saw him on TV.

Conversely, despite the small samples, Flores, Valdy and Mejia are looking good in winter ball. Sure it doesn't mean that much, but it makes you feel good.

And I do like Armando Rodriguez, always have. The 10 walks in 16.1 innings is uncharisteric for him. Usually, he'd give up half that much. But I think he could be this year's version of Josh Edgin.

I was talking about Armando Rodriguez who is a candidate to get taken on the rule 5 draft.

As far as Ceciliani goes he falls under the same category with den Dekker and Nieuwenhuis IMO, a guy that has a chance to play in center in the majors, but because of his flaws he may only be a fourth outfielder in all likelyhood.
