Why does the wild card winner get home field???

I dont understand. The Nats had the best record in baseball and the Cards had the least amount of wins of any playoff team and yet the Nats start on the road. Same as the AL. The Yanks had the most wins in the AL and have to start on the road. Whats up with that?

There is no logic in the way the playoffs are done anymore.

I believe the reasoning was that the WC play-in game was added afterthe schedules were set, and they needed to cut out a travel day during the 1st round. 2-3 instead of 2-2-1.

I'm not defending that decision, I think it's horrible, but I think that's the reason.

A higher seeded team could possibly lose a series while playing only one home game!

It eliminates the travel day between games 4 and 5. The format is 2-3. Very stupid.

Yeah, that is really bad. If they want to eliminate the travel day, then make it 3-2 instead of 2-3. Sure the better record could sweep the series before any travel, but that is a reward for winning rather than rewarding the team that had a worse record.

This is the reason. This is the only season with this format.
