How safe is Candlestick Park for opposing fans?

Hey guys, My girlfriend and I will be there next month for the Bears vs Niners game for MNF sitting on the Bears side of the 50 yard line in the Gold Seating.

I keep hearing some rough stories for opposing fans, and want to honestly know how safe its going to be for us to go to the game.

Hope to hear some serious responses.

    Thanks in advance.

Well as a general rule, coming from a Flyers fan going to a playoff game in NJ in the past as my own hostile experience, you just have to not provoke, don't take any bait from **** talkers, etc etc.

Should we not wear Bears gear?

No, wear Bears stuff, don't let rowdy fans ruin your experience that much. Just don't feed into any potential hostility. Candlestick seems to be getting some bad press lately, but I'd say there are probably alot more good fans than the bad ones. I mean, its not like your wearing Redskins/Giants/Cowboys stuff into a game in Philly.

Yeah. Very true. I just don't want this to be a bad experience. I hope sitting in the lower level in decently expensive seats we won't deal with it much, but going to the bathroom and leaving the game is what I'm worried about.

It won't be so bad because you're going with your lady. Just shine what people **** talk you and you will be fine. There's *******s in every fan base looking to get a reaction out of an opposing fan. Have fun man.

Besides, all the niner fans will be in a good mood anyway after the 49er victory.

Haha thanks man! Her dad brought it up the other night and got me thinking. Just want to make sure it's going to be safe, mainly her.

I really do appreciate your guys' feedback and should really enjoy the matchup.

It's been about 7-8 years since I have been to a football game, and going to Angels stadium to watch Sox games, I usually don't have to worry much.

Well, you could just put her in a Willis jersey. I'd guarantee her safety then.

If you're in nice seats then you should be fine. There may be a little **** talking, but nothing too major. You won't have stuff thrown or poured on you or anything like that or any violence unless you provoke it.

Not a mouthy person what so ever. What about bathroom breaks and after the game in the parking lot?

You should be fine, when altercations happen they usually stem from a combination of **** talking and alcohol. Let the idiots be idiots and enjoy the game. As somebody else said don't take their bait, just expect to hear some boo's.

You will be completely fine. Marquee games like MNF are expensive and leave the lowlifes out of the stadium. Only time where things really get out of hand were preseason and you could get tickets for $10. Always going to be drunk idiots but i wouldn't be too worried.

Now that's a tough one. If you feels unsafe, maybe you can tell a guard or something especially when walking to your car.

As for the restroom, no idea. It can't be bad with my professor's old stories about Raiders fans back when they were here in LA. He told us that he had to escort his wife to the restroom because there were always a line parade near the restrooms for the ladies. The Raiders fans were howling and being like a thirsty dog. Can someone clarify this? I really want to know.

Hey Bud, you will be fine. Seriously enjoy it all, wear your gear, cheer for your team (if you get that opportunity haha). I would stay safe by not drinking too much and letting stupid fans get to you and your lady, but that's something you control. Apart from that, same as any fan going to any game, be aware of your surroundings, don't mouth back and I'd say make friends with the friendly Niner fans (most of us are, and there are a lot of older classier fans there). I am 29, and I have "grown up" the past 2 years or so at sporting events by not over drinking (cuz 1. time flies by 2. bad decisions can be made) and I also embrace the away fans, I use to HATE everything Seattle, went to opening game last year and was tailgating with two cool hawk fans. Went to the Saints and Giants playoff games and I was very graceful in victory and loss and enjoyed talking to the away fans (hugs high fives etc) to prove that most of us Niner fans aren't like the ones you read or hear about. Enjoy yourself, don't seem scared or out of place and make friends. Nice tix you got there bud! I may also be at the game, and if I am you can always contact me and meet up if that makes you feel safer pregame. You'll be fine! Have a blast.
