Mike neal was reinstated today and Phillip Merling was cut to make room for him.

Not a big surprise at all. Excited to see him out there actually healthy for once and I think he could make a surprising impact. He came back too fast last year and rendered himself worthless because that nagging injury zapped his power or "juice" all season.

This could be his last chance. Hopefully he performs.

I agree Wiss, but I like this kid. I honestly think he'll end up surprising a lot of people.

Don't like that they cut Merling. Half of the D-linemen have been banged up early this season. And with Neal's injury history, there's a good chance he gets hurt again. So what happens should he go down? Bring back the very underwhelming Wynn? Activate Guy off the PS even though he's shown nothing? I dunno. This looks like they are making the same mistake again.

You could say that same thing about a lot of other guys as well. Like Manning and Lattimore. They're two of our 6 ILBs on the roster, and I don't think either has even been active once this season. And it's not like Brad Jones wouldn't be available either would he have been cut.

Or what about dead weight like House and Starks? Who are on the roster despite not even being able to play for months.

I know it's not surprising. It's just stupid considering Neal's recent injury history. Heck, all of our D-linemen haven been banged up at some point in the last 1-2 months. It would have been nice to finally have some depth there for once.

BTW, I don't see House or Starks contributing much this year. I don't care what the coaches say. They have lied in the past about injuries, and this is just more of the same IMO.

Sean Richardson, I thought would be placed on IR it only made sense to me seeing he is total dead weight Zero Games Played Zero Tackles and is still out there was zero reason a person can justify keeping him on the roster.............

Exactly. He's a raw project who might contribute in the future. And who will likely remain inactive most of the year. Meanwhile we will probably be stretched thin at DL at some point this year because of injuries. And will have no back-up plan other than bringing back Wynn.

Excited about this kid, they did not have to activate him yet. They had till Monday so he must have shown in practice that he was a better option. BTW House has been listed as a full participant in practice all week.

House has been close to full participant for a couple of weeks now, i just think they are being extremely cautious with him and taking their time bringing him back

I agree, he was listed as limited participant before. now all week he has been full participant. they still have him as questionable for the game.

I think we might see that "Dollar" defense that was use alot last week. Major communication problems allowed Brees to light us up. But I think they will have those problems fixed and a 7 back backfield might be where we get an exstensive look at him. Dont read that this is an endorsement of the Dollar d, I just think they will use it again as Luck and Indy like to stack WR and spread the field. I think a productive Neal could really improve the pass rush(states the obvious) that was lacking in this set.
