    Washington Needs To Go

Thanks Ron for all you have done, but your time here is done. I truly think the culture here is tainted much like after the Mavs losing in 06, and it is simply time for a large turnover.

Add in all of the blunders from tonights game, and I can't see a reason why he deserves to keep his job.

O and BTW, take Hamilton and Napoli with you

I believe it's time to usher in the Francona, Profar, Olt, and Upton bros. era of the Texas Rangers. So long to Young, Naps, Hamilton, and probably Andrus.

when your going to the world series your the best manager in the world, when you miss the playoffs it's time to go, same thing is happening in the Angels forum with Scioscia, im sure boston would love to have either

I agree, Wash needs to go. A big reason he was hired was for his defensive mindset and our defense looked awful this year. Add in that he completely stopped playing small ball and not resting your starters near enough once the rosters expanded. He didn't manage this team at all this year, there was no accountability for mistakes and poor playing. He should be gone, but unfortunately he is not going anywhere for at least another year.

Agree it would be good to lose Young, Naps and Hambone but why Andrus? Let's not forget this franchise can afford a 150 mill or so payroll so we need to pay someone. I am not going to lose sleep worrying about how much loose change a few billionaires have.

We just want Justin. B.J. can continue to be mediocre in Tampa.
    Go to hell Marwin Gonzalez.

You probably think he is mediocre because you looked at his batting average.

BJ Upton is the perfect replacement for Josh

Couldn't agree more. With the talent he has up and down the roster, this team should be winning its division by a mile. The monumental collapse that was this Rangers season cannot be attributed to anything but lack of focus, which is one of the things Wash is responsible for.

I like Andrus. I just think he's replaceable with Profar. Flipping Andrus for Upton or Price would be VERY worthwhile IMO. We've also got another top flight SS coming up through our system behind Profar. Andrus' value will never be higher than it'll be this winter. If Price or Upton are on the block, teams will be hard pressed to find a package better than one including Andrus. That's the only reason why I'm ok with going into next season without him.

Washington was the reason the Rangers didn't win the last two WS and he's the reason they didn't make the ALDS this season. The team has been stacked with talent for the last 3 years... 1 strike away TWICE last season. This isn't the same situation as Mike Soscia. The Rangers have been winning in spite of Washington, not because he actually contributed to the club.

I wish Clint Hurdle were still available.

I agree Washington should be gone, but who is available? Anyone know of a young manager prospect? Washington has made too many mistakes and would not hold the veterans accountable ie Kinsler. Lets hope next spring that Hamilton, Kinsler, Moreland, Dempster, Oswalt, Washington, Coolbaugh are a few that wont be wearing Ranger uniforms. Let the head chopping begin.

I think this post illustrates frustration and/or a desire for forcing change (and it's not just bmc here, I've seen others post similar things). First, why do so many Rangers fans think we should replace Elvis with Profar? Why can't we keep both? Wouldn't Rangers fans rather see Profar take Kinsler's spot?

Oh right, because sportswriters think the Rangers won't be able to match the Yankees. I've never seen the Rangers come out and say they don't intend to keep Elvis. In fact, I've seen the exact opposite. I've seen them start Profar at second in the minors. It sounds to me like too many fans already assume Elvis is gone, when in reality the Rangers look like they're working to keep him.

Second...I just can't get over the bolded comment. Are you kidding me? Never be higher? He turned 24 just over a month ago. He's still a few years away from the prime years for baseball players. He's already an elite defensive shortstop. He also has shown consistent improvements in offense. He's also already a top 5 shortstop both by the eye test and by WAR (5th on fangraphs behind Zobrist, Desmond, Rollins and Reyes/3rd on baseball-reference behind Zobrist and Aybar).

Last, people need to get the Elvis for Price idea out of their head. Zobrist isn't young, but he's not old yet (31). He just led all shortstops in WAR on both fangraphs and baseball-reference. On top of that...the Rays aren't known for their big spending. If people think the Rangers are unlikely to match the Yankees for Elvis...who on earth would think the Rays could? Elvis will not be a Ray.

There's a lot to dislike about BJ Upton.

I think we should send Mike Olt,Martin Perez and maybe a few lower prospects to the Rockies for Carlos Gonzalez.I would love to get Justin Upton also but i dont know who we have that we could send to the Diamondbacks maybe Ian Kinsler, Leonys Martin, and a lower prospect or two.We could have Gonzalez,Gentry and Upton in the outfield if we dont trade Cruz DH him if we do let Young and Murphy DH.We could have Beltre,Andrus,Profar and Moreland in the infield.Keep Napoli and Soto at catcher.I think we need to move Ogando back in the rotation.Have Darvish,Harrison,Holland,Ogando and Lewis as our starting five
