    Jabari Parker to Duke

    From ESPN.com
Simeon Career Academy (Chicago) forward Jabari Parker, the nation's No. 1-ranked senior, cut his list to five schools on Friday, and it includes BYU, Duke, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford.

Parker originally released a list of 10 schools he was considering in July, and it included DePaul, Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina. Of that list, Georgetown and Kentucky did not make in-home visits. Connecticut wasn't on his first list but was also allowed a home visit.

Parker will now set up official visits to all five schools and is expected to commit in November. He's scheduled to visit Duke on Oct. 27 and Florida on Nov. 2.

"He thought about it and looked at the programs. That's the five he had," Simeon coach Robert Smith said Friday. "It took him a long time to find. Everyone was really good, but he had to make a decision. He really respected everyone recruiting him and wanted to thank them for their time. He had to pick five and those are the five he wanted to look at. He knew he couldn't make everyone happy.

Being close to Indiana/Michigan, I am pretty surprised IU, Purdue, and Michigan aren't on there.

As long as he doesn't go to MSU, I am happy.

    And...here...we...go...

^IU and Purdue never really got involved with him, but for those truly elite prospects you need to start early and keep that level of contact for a damn long time. I think at the time Crean was more focused on reeling in Zeller and the other 2012 guys.

    From ESPN.com
Chicago Simeon's Jabari Parker, the No. 2-rated senior in the country, will announce his collegiate plans on Dec. 20, according to multiple reports.

Parker's final list of schools consists of BYU, Duke, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford. He's made official visits to all the schools except Stanford. He made unofficial visits to all of the schools.

Parker's father, Sonny Parker, told USA Today he isn't sure which way his son is leaning, but he's guessing it's between Duke and Michigan State.

"He hasn't told me where," Sonny Parker told USA Today. "I didn't ask him. It's kind of hard to say. He's liked all the schools we've visited. He's hard to read sometimes. He keeps things to himself, so I don't put any pressure on him. I think it will probably be between Duke and Michigan State. That's what I'm thinking."

As a junior, Parker was named the ESPNChicago.com Player of the Year, Illinois' Mr. Basketball and the national Gatorade Player of the Year. He averaged 19.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 3.3 blocks and 1.4 steals per game.
