NL Wild Card: St. Louis Cardinals @ Atlanta Braves 10/5 5:00 PM ET TBS

    @

    St.Louis Cardinals@ Atlanta Braves

    Friday, 10/4 5:00 PM

    Kyle Lohse, RHP (16-3, 2.86 ERA)vsKris Medlen, RHP (10-1, 1.57 ERA)

News: Lohse will start in the Cardinals' one-game playoff against the Braves on Friday, MLB.com reports. Though Lohse has been excellent overall this season, he's performed more poorly on the road, recording a 3.41 ERA while allowing batters to hit .251. No matter where he plays, Lohse faces a major challenge in trying to hold serve with opposing starter Kris Medlen, who has arguably been baseball's most dominant pitcher over the past two months.

News: Medlen took the no-decision Tuesday against the Marlins, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings while striking out eight. By Medlen's recent standards, these three earned runs seem more like eight. This is the first time he has surrendered three runs since a relief effort on May 2. He had allowed three runs total in his previous 54 innings. Medlen will pitch again on Sunday, but now that the Braves have clinched a playoff spot, don't expect a high pitch count, as they will send him to the bump for their pivotal play-in game on Oct. 5.
Come on now...do it for your boy.

I haven't been able to see many friday games this season..and it looks like I'll be missing this one. The braves have been relatively successful when I haven't been able to watch..so maybe this is a good thing. Anyway..for those going to the game...give it all you got...let this be a positive memorable game.

I will be able to watch about the first two hours of this game. Hopefully we have blown them out at that point so I don't have to worry about not watching the rest of it haha. Either way I will take a win no matter how we get it. Can't have this ******** game be Chip's last.

God be with the Braves this season. Let's hope Medlen continues to shine. I will miss this one too, but like Brave Kid, it's been good this year when I haven't watched. Go Braves, win one for the Chipper!

Very nervous for this one. If they win, I'm going to game 3 even if I have to sell an organ and skip class.

Meds has just got to shut them down/contain them...absolutely can not afford to be trailing throughout..who knows if the offense will step up.

Go get them Meds...you got a nation behind you.

It's about the offense. Everyone had 1-2 days off this week and slept in their own beds, so no excuses. Facing a pitcher that most of them have seen, the building will be sold out and fired up, and everyone wearing Red White and Blue should be pissed off because this opponent is the same team that took something from you last year. They made you a laughing stock. The Braves have been eliminated on their home field too many times in recent years. If you can't take THIS game personal, and want to put on the performance of a lifetime in front of your home fans, then this "era" should come to an end in more ways than one.
