The Mets and Jason Bay have agreed to an early expiration of his contract, the team announced. Terms of the agreement were undisclosed and Bay is a free agent.
Everybody knew this was going to be a massive fail.

I wouldnt mind bringing Bay back here for a year. Give him Cody Ross' deal from last year and stick him in LF.

95, 123, 70. Games played for Bay in the last three season. That scares me, he had a good 1.5 seasons here, but not time to go back. Also read the Mets are still paying him all the money left, its just being deferred over some years.

Bay has been horrific the last couple years. The most I would give is the minimum. Too many better outfielders in either free agency or trades.

    sign Melky Cabrera (1yr)
    sign Torii Hunter (1yr w/option)
    sign Sanchez/Haren (sanchez 4yrs) (Haren 2yrs w/option or 3yrs)
sign Laroche*/ trade for Morneau (Rather see what Morneau can do in a contract year)

Other than some possible bullpen arms and role players i think that'll do.

I'd trade Lackey, Cabrera, and Ellsbury at the deadline for specs or something team controlled that would be a major piece in our Now and future team. Obviously not all packaged together.

Its a glorified bridge year so make the team look to be competitive and maybe they will be the first half but then unload the majority of your one year deals for specs and make this team even more stronger for the foreseeable future.

You guys seem to have forgotten the bad cloud created by Bay that he left town under. He's been going downhill since '06.

At the very most, camp invite.

p.s. we will not sign Melky. Haren has got too many problems to sign to a big deal - no.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

    Some jerks never learn.....

    **** no on Bay.

The dude has regressed to Jose Iglesias with some pop.

I'd rather Jerry Sands play LF and see what he's got.

While Justin Upton's name makes the rounds as trade candidate, sources say #dbacks will also listen on pitcher Trevor Bauer

    Interested.

I like bauer but that makes me worry about him.

Id still be interested in a deal for Upton centered around Buchholz.
