Faring better does not mean that they are better. Rule of thumb is add 0.45 to an NL pitcher coming to the AL. More if from a pitchers park.

We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

They Marlins would take that deal so quick. Horrible deal for the Sox.

Anyone else hoping they sign Joakim Soria? I think he would be a great addition to the bullpen.
    The name is Amendola....

I would take him on a 1 year deal. But only if they don't think Bailey will be healthy.

I still like Jonathan Broxton, the guy is still a stud reliever and would be a perfect 8th inning guy for this team. (Insurance for Bard's inevitable failure)

However, he will probably get highly overpriced and we'll be forced to pass.

I know, but it would include at least 4 of those to get Stanton.

That's why he is a pipe dream.

I've never believed Bowden, but let's act like he "knows" what he's talking about, we are offering Napoli 3 years? Wonder how much $ per.

I thought I read that he wanted to be assured of a closer role when signing....

    What's the $$$$?

He could play 2 years at 1B with Lavarnway/Ross catching and then become a catcher in years 3 and 4.

Not sure I'd want that though.

If I had to guess, mine would be that Napoli gets 3 years in the $30-35M range with a 4th year mutual option with a decent buyout; OR, we allocated that "4th year money he wants" into the first 3 guaranteed years by raising the AAV by $1-2M per year. We can certainly afford that money going forward.
