So Fister starts game two, because Scherzer started tonight? Plus I think I feel more comfortable with Fister at home and Scherzer on the road, rather than vice versa.

Based on how the Tigers have played the A's this season, I don't think this series will be very close. Tigers have advantage in both pitching and offense (by a wide margin). Only thing that could be our downfall would be the D, which has played much better of late, however. Winning the first two would almost guarentee a series win for the boys

Ugh, not really the matchup I was hoping for. Oakland is playing with such confidence right now and I can easily see us getting swept with our bull pen imploding in 2 games. The A's will have trouble hitting JV and Max, but I can see them killing Fister and Sanchez/Porshit.

I can't say who really has the advantage in any game until I see pitching match ups. I hope Fister goes game 2 and Max in game 3 because Oakland is a larger park and he has a propensity to give up the long ball.

You always have a negative twist on the Tigers and their series'. If you REALLY think the Tigers will get swept, I'm sorry... but I can't take you serious.

My thoughts: With our pitching; Verlander, Fister, Max, and Sanchez (the way they've pitched lately) we SHOULD sweep. Oakland really doesn't match up against us in the post season. They're a young, very low-payroll team that doesn't have the experience. Yes, they've done well this season in a tough division, but the regular season isn't the post-season. Our starting pitching could be the best to make the playoffs this year, and our offense if it's anything close to what it's capable of, should be sufficient enough. Only things that worry me are; defense, and possibly our bullpen.

I say Tigers in 4, but wouldn't be surprised if it went 5.

I see where ahoda is coming from, but between the lack of experience and us playing hot baseball, I see us losing one game in the series

We have the best starting pitching for AL teams in the Playoffs. I don't think the match ups will matter. JV, Fister, Scherzer and Sanchez are all capable of hurling gems.

Our line up is better than their lineup as well but they play better D and run the bases better. Should be a good series.

I dunno...Oakland always has that "best names you've never heard of" for starting pitchers.

The A's starting pitching is just as good and I said our bull pen will be the reason would lose games. Name 1 pitcher in our rotation with success starting in the post season?

    JV: 8GS 5.57 ERA
MS: 3GS (another appearance out of the pen) 5.74 ERA
DF: 2GS (another appearance out of the pen) 4.76 ERA
    AS: 0 post season experience
RP: 2GS (2 appearances out of the pen) 4.80 ERA

Sorry I don't feel that the Tigers are the GOAT and should sweep this series. We barely won our division and we are facing the hottest team in the AL that almost finished with the best record in baseball.

Are you sure about those numbers on Max? I remember him doing much better than that against New York last year. And I like I said in another thread. Justin's post season numbers are not something you can put much stock in, as they were pitched in his rookie season, and then last year he was pitching against the rain and lost.
