Kris Bryant will be gone, so point is mute. If he had the 7th or 8th pick, then it would be different.
It's a little to early to say where a player may land.
Definitively speaking of course.
We all know that the rankings of college hitters never change. Hitters never improve or decline.
My gut says that Meadows, Wilson, and Bryant will not be available. It's possible one of Frazier or Williams will be available, but we shall see.
Mickie Mathook lasted to the supplemental round. As did Bryce Brentz.
Yeah, those draft well pretty deep. In this draft much like last year, those guys will go in the top 10-15 picks.
Here is the draft pool for next year.
Mets have that extra 600K or so for not signing Stankie, hope they make good use of it.1. Astros ($10,880,000)
2. Cubs ($9,822,500)
3. Rockies ($9,490,700)
4. Twins ($7,700,700)
5. Indians ($7,693,000)
6. Marlins ($8,870,700)
7. Red Sox ($6,341,900)
8. Royals ($7,741,200)
9. Pirates ($8,226,500)
10. Blue Jays ($5,941,300)
11. Mets ($6,487,300)
Aaron Judge is a guy that right now seems to be a guy that may be drafted in the back half of the 1st round maybe later, but if he starts hitting for power he likely will shoot up to the top 15 picks even top 10.
He has a beastly size at 6'7'' 230 pounds.
IMO Frazier and the Austin guys will be gone by the 11th pick, so guys like Judge or Abreu will be on the next tier of outfield bats available, though either of those 2 could easily become a top 10 pick as well.
I know it's early, but just not sure why more guys aren't interested in Justin Williams. Here is a little snippet from an article on some of his stats from his Junior year. "The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Williams is coming off another stellar season at Terrebonne. As a junior, he was one of the area's best hitters with a .519 average, eight home runs, nine doubles, two triples, 25 RBIs and a .637 on-base percentage." He did this on a sub .500 team which means he probably didn't have much protection before or after him. I just think that it's impressive that he is not just a power hitter, but hits for average as well. Here is the full article on him.
Also here is a recent scouting report.
Sorry I keep bringing the guy up, but I just think he is a perfect fit for what we need and has the potential to be a star. Also, he is projected to go right around where we pick.
