On the day before the 2014 Super Bowl is played in New Jersey, Michigan State will play Georgetown at Madison Square Garden in a Feb. 1 non-conference game right in the middle of the Spartans' Big Ten schedule, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The game will be part of a college basketball doubleheader at The World's Most Famous Arena that will be played before the defending NBA champion Miami Heat play the New York Knicks that evening. St. John's, which plays many of its home games at Madison Square Garden, will take on Marquette in a Big East game as part of the event.

The event has not been officially announced, though Georgetown athletic director Lee Reed hinted at it Wednesday.
