Detroit is the least of all evils but as the rest of you stated, there really is no outcome id be happy about.

Yea, I don't mind if Detroit wins. They've been trying really hard for awhile without anything to show for it.

PSD's Tigers fanbase makes me not want to see them win anything. But they're the lesser of four evils at this point.

What do you guys think of freeing up some money and trading Lee for Ellsbury?

I think the Red Sox would need to include more. And I don't think they have more.

Keep in mind, Ellsbury only has one season remaining.

There's another aspect to keep in mind. The Red Sox are rebuilding. They'll want a package of prospects for Ellsbury, not an expensive, over-30 pitcher.

I would definitely look into acquiring Ellsbury with perhaps Worley plus a couple pieces.

I was thinking of it as a payroll dump for Phillie and unless they paid some of that huge salary then they would have to include more. But if they they did send some money our way the Sox probably would have to add more and they got plenty of trade chips. Sweeny, Aviles, Salty, they got a stacked BP.

The Sox are rebuilding but don't be surprised to see them put a team together that can contend. The Sox just need to add a SP and 1B and maybe an OF if they trade Ellsbury. And if the trade Ellsbury for a SP then they just go to get get BJ Upton, Bourn , or Victorino and a 1B. That's assuming they resign Ross and Ortiz. I'm looking for them to contend next year while they rebuild.

Are we gonna be selling one of our old pitchers?

Those old pitchers are pretty much the only chance the Phillies have of winning the division. It would require a very targeted return in a 1-for-1 type deal.

Why have I yet to read anything about Wright at 3B? Is it money?

You dont really want your best hitter hitting in a spot where the situation could be no men on and 2 outs.

Maybe Im hanging in the MLB forum too much, but I've read a few FG articles supporting this
I remember Schmidt batting 3rd when Luzinski was on the team.

True. But you need to fill some holes and your going to need money to do that

He's not a free agent and appears likely to receive an extension.
