I'm a big fan of May's upside, but you are seriously overrating the **** out of May with that analysis. At the very least? He profiles at most to be a good to great number 2 at most. He also has serious flaws as a pitcher, which I don't believe the Phillies thought could be fixed long term. We still kept Biddle, Morgan, Martin, and Pettibone with the later three being comparable or better than May.
I'm in the minority here it seems as I really like the deal. This leaves money to be spent on an eighth inning guy, corner OF, and a potentially better SP than Worley.
