    Scutaroid

The purpose of this thread is to see if I am delusional or if I am onto something here. I don't want to create a Giants vs Dodgers bickering thread (I have seen a few Giants posters in here recently). Thx.

Top 10 reasons why Marco "Scutaroid" is using PED's. Decide for yourself.

    (1) Since he entered the league as a full time player in 2004, his average by year is as follows: .273, .247, .266, .260, .267, .282, .299, .306 (2012)
    (2) Since Joining the Giants midseason - 60 games: .363, 44 RBI, 3 HR
    (3) The first 95 games of 2012 he was with the Rockies and hit .271, 30 RBI, 4HR (best hitters park in America)
    (4) He is turning 37 years old this month
    (5) This is the final year of his current contract
    (6) Perfect timing - if he gets caught...who cares? he has an "early" retirement at 37, BUT, if he doesn't get caught, he gets paid 1 more contract - and a lot of $$ - he is #9 in the NL in average
    (7) Perfect Place - Everyone knows it is not hard to find PED's in San Francisco! The MLB has a pretty spotty drug testing policy. Maybe players get tested twice a year, and not every player. Where's the last place the league would look? A team that had 2 people get suspended (Cabrera, Mota), the league prob thinks no one on the Giants would dare use PED's.
    (8) Perfect Team - Just joined the team, no one knows him, so any changes wouldnt be noticed
    (9) Scutaro joined the team in the midst of a competitive division race, and was added as a utility player to fill in for Sandoval. He could have easily become a bench player instead of an everyday starter if he didnt play very well.
    (10) During the month of September, Scutaro hit .402 - the best in the Major Leagues by a lot.

So you do the math... but I have never seen anyone have the best stretch of their career 1 month before they turn 37. I have been trying to ignore this, but I'm tired of these cheaters and how they always end up on the Giants.

Fair enough. You think Scutaro will hit .300 next year?

You are right on...I think he's using something. This stuff is still rampant in MLB. The fact that 2 Giants were already busted this year is a good clue where it is most rampant.

His numbers don't lie. No clean player should improve at age 36-37, it's just not possible.

derek jeter give me a break. baseball is a game of hot streaks at scutaro is on one.

ill be the first to say im upset and embarrassed by melky, but it shouldnt mean every player that ever gets hot in september is "on something"

Derek Jeter? Really? How does he enter into this? He's been good his whole career. Don't be blind.

His time with the Giants is a lot longer than a "hot streak". Give me a break. This is getting to look like a trend up North. Abrey Huff, Juan Uribe, Cabrerra, Scuturo, Vogelsong.

There's two teams that seem to have a fountain of youth in their clubhouse. The other is StL. where other known PED pushers still exist.

Is is very possible and probable that Scutaro is just on a hot streak as you said. But let's not compare Marco Scutaro to Derek Jeter ...lol. Those guys can't compare on any level. Jeter is a career .313 hitter, one could argue that Jeter is just playing the same as usual, not that he is having a phenom year. Jeter has also gotten hot plenty of times in his career. Scutaro is a career .278 hitter which is still good, but he has never gotten this hot in his entire career.

It's just speculation. And I agree it doesn't mean that everyone that goes on a hot streak is PEDing, but you also cannot overlook the history of the SF Giants and this topic.

You're definitely on to something. I'll add more proof to the list and destroy any stupid arguments from Giants fans.

How is Marco Scutaro driving the ball so far?

Some people will argue that most of his hits are line drive singles, or hard hit ground balls that are directed towards a hole or down the line doubles BUT it takes a lot of muscle to power the ball out of the infield and that's what these Giants fans don't see.

Giants fans will argue 'but his XBH and HR numbers are in line with what he has done in Boston'. But that's exactly what I would do if I were a steroids user, stay away from the fly balls and HRs.

Giants fan will also argue that users of PEDs/Steroids have shown a significant power(PX) increase and that in Marco's case that hasn't happened. But what they don't realize is facts or logic aren't important, what's most important is how you FEEL about players on the team that eliminated you. You can't fool our feelings Scutaro!

Completely unrelated to this discusssion, but do you remember when Eric Gagne wrote a book saying "80% of his dodger teammates used steroids", that was a cute story.

The new era of PED's is not designed to make you blow up like Barry and hit 80 bombs. They are mostly designed to enhance endurance and recovery. Melky wasn't going to break the HR record this year, but his average is going to win the batting title whether or not his name is on it. It increases bat speed so that the double Scutaro hit down the line last night is fair instead of foul, etc.

Based on your theories, Kemp was on PED's pre all star break... as his pre and post all star break battin averages are .355 and .282... How is this possible? He must have been on PED's right?

Yup that book came out way after this guy named Jose already wrote the same book. I guess the French wanted a steroid book in their language.

If 80% of the league was on roids, then 80% of the Dodgers being on roids is not that surprising.
