Adam Greenberg: Good Story or Shameless Publicity Stunt?

I'm happy that Greenberg got another at-bat, but why did the Marlins not invite him back until the end of the season. The guy was toiling in the minors/indy ball for six seasons.

This article gives a pretty good perspective on how the Marlins benefited from Greenberg's at bat today:

I say publicity, they wanted to make a nice gesture and bring fans to the ballpark which was successful.

Marlins....publicity, a different team, maybe a different story.

    I still think it's neat.

He was hitting home runs in batting practice.

I think it's both and I don't have a problem with it. They brought in the guy from the 50's who had the same thing happen to him which I thought was great. Adam Greenburg will have his own baseball card too. It's a great story and maybe one day we will see him again

Stats NEVER tell the whole story!

The question is, where do you draw the line with this kind of thing?

What happens when an older guy gets a one day appearance so he can claim he is the oldest guy ever?

Just curious where the line should be drawn.

At least Greenberg was still playing Independent ball, so it's not like the League could have a real issue with it.

Dickey should have let him get a hit.

It was a bit of a stunt but hey, it's one game that means nothing. Pretty hard not to like it.
