I've seen this debated a lot on PhuturePhillies and here occasionally, and from everything I have ever seen/read/heard of the guy, he has far from a lazy attitude. There are obviously 2-3 instances of him not running out a routine grounder, but as an overall scope of his play, nothing about him is lazy. I know its obviously personal preference on this, but I personally don't care he didn't run out a routine grounder. There is probably less than a 1% chance that a routine grounder will turn into anything more than an out, so in the grand scheme of things, its just a non-issue.

Honestly if Manuel would finally accept that Rollins is not and has never been a lead off hitter, I think he would catch a lot less flak.

I thought that for years. He should be batting 5th or 6th, or 3rd if we didn't have Utley.

If the Phillies aren't looking for a full time 3B next season (I'm assuming with Frandsen coming back)...how about the Phils kickin the tires on Chone Figgins? He was designated for assignment....he plays a decent third base (.956 fielding %)...plus he could play 2B and CF....just get him here on a one year deal, ala Juan Pierre....? He didn't have the greatest season in SEA last season, but who knows a change of scenery might be what he needs....he'd be a better option as a possible leadoff then Rollins...

I like the idea of kicking the tires on Figgins as a super-sub, but the rest of those things you're saying about him are pure lunacy. LEad-off?

are you afraid that the winter season ruf is having is further complicating things for RAJ? is there an actual chance this kid can be something? would it make sense to take a commodity previously with low value and sell, sell, sell?

And Freddy Galvis has 4 HR in 130 Abs.

Here is Ruf's full stat line so far.

Leads league with 10 HRs/27 RBIs...also leads league in strikeouts after 35 games. Headed home next week. No real report on his fielding...good sign?

Now if anyone is going to complain about him k'ing to much i am going to say i agree. But he also is drawing a lot of walks ...His OBP is 100 points higher then his BA. So even though he is k'ing alot. His OBP is ok.

I also don't care about what position they pick up in FA. Its about hitting in their lineup. They need 2 more hitters in their lineup. If Utley is batting 2nd. And JRoll leadoff. They need a 3 hole hitter. Ryan is 4th. They need 2 right handed hitters to hit 3rd and 5th. Let Ruiz bat 7th.

If they pick up BJ and Youklis. Along with Ruf. This team is lethal. And let Dom Brown play RF.

Rollins, Utley, BJ, Ryan, Youk, Ruf, Ruiz, Dom B and then Pitcher.

I think Freddy is our 2nd basemen in 2014.

I think we sign BJ Upton this week and then we see the rest of our signings fall into place. I think RAJ is waiting until he signs a centerfielder to do anything else so he has a better idea of his lineup. I think we will sign Cody Ross and possibly Kevin Youkilis after Upton is in the fold. I also think we will sign a veteran setup man shortly after.
