    Ben Sheets to retire

Sheets will make his 250th career start against Pittsburgh in the regular-season finale Wednesday and then hang up his spikes for good. He was an unbelievably awesome story for the pitching-starved Braves at mid-season, and it's too bad we won't get a chance to see him try his hand at a more extended resurgence. But given the injuries he's fought through, going out on his own terms makes some sense.

Kudos to Sheets, and I'm glad he's retiring a Brave.

What a joy it was to watch him make that comeback. Dude was the ace of the staff for a couple weeks or so.

Still think he has more in the tank...just with a proper off-season of building up his stamina and endurance...he could be a damn good #3 for someone.

But he knows his body better than anyone else.

    Thank you sheets.

Without Sheets the Braves might not have pushed the fight for the division to the final series. Thanks for your service, Ben.

It was a real pleasure watching him resurrect his career with the Braves mid season. For those few weeks he came back he was one of the hottest pitchers in baseball and I think his play was a big spark for this team to finish the year on a strong note. I mean those first 5 starts he was brilliant and that was very exciting to see. It would of been nice to see him pitch more than 1 inning but there's nothing wrong with ending your career by striking out 2 of the last 3 batters you face, including Andrew McCutchen. Best of luck to him in his retirement and thank you for your services Ben!
