    Fujikawa chooses the Cubs

    https://twitter.com/Alden_Gonzalez

Looks like Kyuji Fujikawa, who was said to be seriously considering the #Angels, is on his way to the #Cubs, per @Ken_Rosenthal.
    Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal

Sources: #Cubs in agreement with Japanese closer Kyuji Fujikawa. Rival executives involved in bidding had expected him to go to #Angels.
    thats disappointing.

We probably missed out because we didn't offer him the closer rule.

    details

    Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal

Fujikawa deal is $9.5M for two years. $1M signing bonus, $4M salaries in 2013 and '14, plus vesting option at $5.5M or $6M based on games finished. If Fujikawa option does not vest, #Cubs hold $5.5M club option with $500K buyout. A total of $9.5M guaranteed.

Fujikawa's deal is worth $9.2MM over two years, tweets Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
I feel like we would have at least offered that much.

I think this means that Vladdy has officially lost his powers. He had a good run on causing the Pujols signing, but it's time for him to hang up his keyboard and accept that he's now incapable of not jinxing everything.

As I said, I watched him play many games here. Don't let his ERA and whatever stat he has fool you. He is horrible in pressure situations with a game or season on the line and is always guaranteed to give up a homerun in the Top of the 9th if the Hanshin Tigers were up 1 or 2 runs. I am glad he is out of Japan and will buy his Hanshin jersey at the thrift store to make some cash off of Cubs fans on Ebay.

    That's comforting, I guess.
