Yikes. Makes C.J. look like a bargain, and makes mr scared to see what Greinke will get if Lohse gets that.

You guys exercising Dan Haren's option?

    15.5, with a 3.5 buyout

Doesn't sound like it. Sounds like the Angels want to save all their money for Greinke. I hope it does not back fire. If the Angels lose Haren and miss out on Greinke, they are down to Weaver, Wilson, Williams, Richards, FA signing. That rotation would not bring this team to the playoffs.

Personally I wish there was some way to retain Haren and Greinke.

    Greinke
    weaver
    Wilson
    Haren
    Richards

Imo he is most likely a goner, they sign Greinke, a 4th/5th starter for cheap and some bullpen pitchers.

angels explore trade market before making option decisions on haren & santana.
Haren for Skaggs and Corbin ray:

Trout and C.J. Wilson are our only finalists for Gold Gloves. No Hunter or Pujols?

The Angels have explored the possibility of trading Dan Haren and Ervin Santana before Wednesday, the date on which option decisions are due, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports. The Angels are not expected to exercise Haren’s $15.5MM option or Santana’s $13MM option.

A rival executive suggested to Heyman that it could be difficult to trade the pitchers given their disappointing performances in 2012. GM Jerry Dipoto wanted to trade Santana last winter, but owner Arte Moreno wanted to keep him, according to Heyman.

Here's my take: many teams are in need of starting pitching, so it’s possible that a club would look at the options and determine that they’re reasonable. They would be especially appealing to teams that are often spurned by free agents.

Also, a team that acquired Haren or Santana and exercised the option could make the hurler a qualifying offer following the 2013 season, assuming a rebound. That could net any acquiring organization a first-round pick in the 2014 draft.
Interesting that Dipoto wanted to trade Santana but wasnt allowed, maybe Moreno should stick to signing checks and Dipoto can handle the trades?

I doubt we are able to trade either of them. Kind of mad that it looks like Haren is not coming back at all, I think thats a big mistake but I trust Dipoto

His UZR was pretty low compared to the rest of the AL shortstops, it wasnt much better last season though so who knows

Gold gloves are voted by managers I believe almost killing McCarthy probably lost him a vote or two

If we re-sign Greinke but can't acquire John Lackey for Vernon Wells, I think we'll probably look to sign Jeremy Guthrie. He'll likely be cheap, and Dipoto had interest in him last off-season if the rumor was true. Dipoto likes pitchers who can control the count, so Guthrie fits that bill.

Dipoto tells Mike DiGiovanna of the L.A. Times that the team could exercise one or both options, trade one or both, or decline both options. All scenarios are still in play.

Pick up Haren's option trade Santana if possible

Might just be because he's a Cardinals fan, and that's where Haren came from.
