They have Maybin in CF who is signed through 2016. They just signed Carlos Quintin in LF to a 2-3 year extension. Yonder Alonso at 1B who put up decent numbers in his first full big league season. Will Venable is in RF who is a young cost control guy who had about the same WAR and wOBP as Trumbo so there isnt.

To get Headley I think we would for sure have to start with Kaleb Cowart
Their top prospect is a third baseman and I think he's about a year away from the majors. Not that Cowart or Gyorko couldn't move to the outfield or something, but I think they're probably looking for middle infield and pitching prospects. Every place else they have pretty much covered.

These seem like more realistic options

Bay has 23M less on his deal so we would likely have to kick in around 20M

Zito has 15M less on his deal so we would have to kick in 5M-8M

Another option is John Lackey, this is probably the one I like the most. Lackey has 11.5M less on his so once again we would likely have to include some money. I also dont know if the Angels would make this trade. But out of Bay, Zito, and Lackey, I think Lackey has the best chance to return his career norms.
I'm not sure the Red Sox would do that at this point. They're short on pitching and already have a decent amount of young outfielders. I would welcome Lackey back though. Save us from having to sign a pitcher or two.

    Does it really?

At least you get to look at Trout though
There are only two sigs that I'm fine with slowing my browser down. 1) Bouncing boobies 2) Mike Trout in any way shape or form.

yeah guys were stuck with Vernon Wells, i would be down to bring back hunter on something short and cheap, but anything besides that and we will end up with another abreu on our hands, i am fine with an OF of Trout, Bourjos, Trumbo/Calhoun though, we have to come to terms that wells will be given a shot at the Starting RF job, there is nothing wrong with giving him a shot considering how much were paying.

Josh Hamilton says that he won't take a discount to stay with the Rangers, but that's where he's likely to land as it's hard to read the market for him. The Tigers, Nationals, Pirates, Phillies, Angels, Mariners, Blue Jays, and Orioles shouldn't be ruled out. The Yankees and Red Sox also can't be crossed off the list but neither market is a strong fit for Hamilton.
Bringing in Hamilton is very risky. The absolute max I would give him is what Holliday got a couple years ago with the Cards, 7 years 120M

    SS Aybar
    RF Trout
    1B Pujols
    LF Hamilton
    DH Morales
    C Iannetta
    3B Callaspo
    2B Kendrick
    CF Bourjos

Over the last 5 years Hamilton has averaged a 4.48 WAR, the dollar value on that is $19.28M. So if he kept up on that pace over the 7 years he would be worth it, but he isnt likely to keep that pace because he is likely going to decline since he would be 32-38 over the life of that contract.

Reliever Mike Adams, who is a free agent this winter, would like to return to the Rangers, tweets Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Adams will certainly test the open market though, saying, "I'm going to take advantage of it. It's strictly business." The right-hander earned $4.4MM in 2012 and posted a 3.27 ERA with 7.7 K/9 and BB/9 2.9.
Meanwhile, Adams will meet with a specialist on Thursday regarding his Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and says he expects to have surgery, tweets Anthony Andro of FOX Sports Southwest.
"Thoracic Outlet Syndrome" is "Thoracic outlet syndrome is a rare condition that involves pain in the neck and shoulder, numbness and tingling of the fingers, and a weak grip."

That doesnt sound very good, but I would love to have him if he was healthy.

If we signed Hamilton and Adams (on top of already signing Wilson) it would be payback for them taking Vlad, Napoli, Oliver, and O'Day from us

Angels fans asking 'bout 3B Chase Headley, who had great year at thin position league-wide. #Padres wanted moon for him in July. Imagine now, after monster Aug./Sept. put him at 286/376/498. Plus, with Maybin, SD has no use for Bourjos. In other words, unlikely.

Plus Zito for Wells is the best form to get rid of Wells and his contract and it gave us a option for a SP.

We get a 3B and 2 SP and save the money (Haren and Santana) for Greinke.

    What is Greinke's market value? 18, 19, 20MM?

And I personally think that we can made a move for Hamilton and Hunter. Hamilton gets Hunter's money (18MM) and sign Hunter for 8 or 9 MM. But first we need to swing the Zito for Wells trade. A better line up and rotation with almost the same payroll. Plus Zito come off the book 2014. More money left.

Zito for Wells (20 for 21MM plus Zito have a buy out for 2014 Wells not)
    Hamilton (Hunter's money)
Greinke (20MM from the ~29MM from Santana and Haren)
Hunter (9MM left from Santana and Greinke)
    Shields (Itzuris, Hawkins, Isringhausen)
Headley the only salary that is new for the team.

    CF Trout
    RF Hunter
    1B Pujols
    LF Hamilton
    DH Morales
    3B Headley
    2B Kendrick
    SS Aybar
    C Ianetta

    SP
    Weaver
    Greinke
    Shields

Matt Carpenter of the Cardinals could be an interesting option for third base. His main position is 1B, but he just played 3B in a playoff game. He's 26, a left handed hitter, and primarily a bench bat for the Cards. Not sure what we would give up for him, but he wouldn't cost much.

Stats: .294/.365/.463 with 6 HRs in 340 PAs

That's an interesting option. With Freese there for at least the next 3+ years they don't need a third basemen. They could use him at first base though.

Defense wise 3B was the only one he had a positive UZR at so that's a plus. He is also under team control for the next 5 plus seasons

You aren't taking into account the players already on the Angels that are going to get raises.

Just off the top of my head, remembering the players contracts, that rotation looks like 80M+ and the lineup is looking like 70M+ that doesn't factor in the bench or the bullpen and we are already at last years payroll

Allen Craig is their primary first baseman and they have Matt Adams to back him up. They wouldn't miss him too much.

meh I view him as a potential bench bat and that's about it. It's relatively easy to hit well in the PCL and the Salt Lake City Bee's Stadium is a major hitters park. The fact that he can't seem to take a walk in AAA doesn't sound promising to me.
