    Gomez agrees to deal.

I'm sure you've all seen this I just didn't see a thread for it.

Wondering what some thoughts are on the deal.

I'm not jumping for joy but I will be if he goes out and has a good season. He made strides last year and he's still got room to grow. Definitely a young guy that hasn't hit his ceiling yet.

To me, its sort of a risky deal, but if he goes out and even only slightly improves on his season last year, I think he ends up getting at least that amount in free agency next offseason. He's a high energy guy and he really sounds like he's working hard to improve.

I'm excited about his potential. Yes it was kind of pricey, but like you guys are saying-if he improves even a little bit it can be awesome. I think he's a guy that's going to go out there and prove he's worth the money. Could be a gold glover this year too.

i do think however to justify this contract, he needs to be capable of batting near that top of the lineup. We can't be paying $8 million for a seven hitter. I hope he can get on base well enough, especially early in the year, to bat second. With Hart out, I would like a lineup like

    Aoki
    Gomez
    Braun
    Ramirez
    Rickie
    Lucroy
    1st base
    Segura

Lucroy is capable of batting 5th, but with catchers getting days off, I'd rather have them lower so you don't shuffle the lineup as often.

    My lineup would be:

    Pre-Hart return.

    1. Aoki
    2. Weeks
    3. Braun
    4. Ramirez
    5. Gomez
    6. Lucroy
    7. Gonzalez
    8. Segura
    9. Pitcher

    After Hart returns:

    1. Aoki
    2. Hart
    3. Braun
    4. Ramirez
    5. Weeks
    6. Gomez
    7. Lucroy
    8. Segura
    9. Pitcher
If I facepalmed any harder I would have cracked my own skull.
