If you are the Lakers would you trade Kobe for Melo?

If you are the Lakers would you trade Kobe for Melo now that you have Dwight so that you could have a Dwight and Melo combo for the next 5-7 years in there primes?

This is in harmony with the many threads we had about if the Heat would trade Wade or Lebron for Dwight. Just something different.

I hate the Lakers. I certainly don't like Kobe. I see no way Lake show would ever do this. That being said I think they're definitely better off if they did.

    I'm surprised it's so one-sided.

Kobe isn't getting any younger and it's clear he isn't what he used to be. Yeah his age might tell you he's old but not THAT old, however if you consider all the minuets he's played, when he started playing (18), all the injuries he's played through, he's a very old man.

The Lakers are already set to rebuild in 2 years when Kobe retires. Why risk our very good chance at a title these next 2 years for someone who has often been criticized for making the teams he is on worse.

Besides he is eligible for FA in 2 years so if we really wanted him we could just make a run at him then.

Kobe is better than Melo, just saying for a larger window since the Lakers already have Dwight Howard. Who is to say they can't win a title with Dwight, Melo, Gasol and Nash right now either?

They probably could win with that line up too, but kobe gives em a better chance, at least for the next 2 years.

Yeah I agree with you here.
Kobe seems like the safe choice for the next year or two because of his superior ability to fit into a team offense and his higher BBIQ.

That's the key. They understand this is their window with Kobe.

Obviously they're not dealing him within that window of opportunity, if ever. Kobe should/will retire a Laker. It would be absurd for him to play for another franchise.
