    It kind of sucks, but he had a career year during a contract year. That is when teams generally overpay. Thanks for a good 8 seasons with the Sox.

    I'll guess 5-6 mil. There wasn't a big market for him, and the Sox were said to have offered him 4 mil.

    I will be so happy that we won't see 3829 passed balls next year.

    If thats all he signed for I will be pissed! No reason we couldnt have matched a 1 year 5M deal!

    He won't be $5M better than Flowers. I'm not sure he'll be better at all. Especially considering how bad his D has gotten. AJ can not move left-right anymore.

    NOT ONE TEAM in baseball wanted to give this guy more than a one year deal. That should tell everyone something!

    because we werent interested in bringing him back.we seem pretty committed to give flowers a legit chance.his d has gotten really bad and doubt he repeats his offensive production.so can def see why we'd be good with just letting him go ,no matter the price

    At least the Sox didn't give EJax $52M over the next 4 years.

    I want to see what Flowers can do, I think he will put up impressive numbers while playing twice as better defense as AJ.

    Thanks for being heads up in '05 on the dropped third strike.

    I just am not really sure what RH and KW could be looking to do right now, all the starters are starting to be signed, all that is left is Kyle Lohse and Jair Jurjjens that would interest the Sox.

    ^ this x 1000

    Pitcher A, career (EJax)
    Age = 29
    1.438 WHIP
    98 ERA+
    3.5 BB/9
    9.4 H/9
    1.95 K/BB

    Pitcher B, career
    Age = 29
    1.332 WHIP
    100 ERA+
    3.0 BB/9
    9.0 H/9
    2.32 K/BB

    I won't say who pitcher B is, but his name begins with G and ends with avinfloyd. Anyone here want to pay Pitcher B $52M?

    You're assuming they're looking to bring IN a pitcher. I have a hunch their looking to send one OUT (at the right price, hopefully).

    This had me thinking today... I think the reason why the Sox might actually keep Floyd is due to this exact thing and brings the following conservation.

    Team: Hey Rick, we want Floyd. What's the price?
    Rick: Well, seeing as Floyd has somewhat comparable numbers to a guy that got $52 million and is way better than a pitcher who netted Kendrys Morales and is a little worse than James Shields, we would want a couple good prospects in return.
    Team: You do realize he sucks, right?
    Rick: Well, ya, but with the way the market is and how cheap he is, we fill it's a fair price to pay
    Team: No thanks, we would rather go after Shaun Marcum
    Rick: So a worse pitcher?
    Team: How so?
    Rick: Nevermind.

    Exactly, this market is ridiculous. I would have signed a guy like Pelfrey for cheap and seen if Coop could have turned him around instead of maybe having to go into the market next year.

    Considering what Sanchez and EJax got the Peavy deal looks fantastic.
