^^ It seems the major teams we thought would be in play for AJ (Yankees, Dodgers) don't seem interested in him. He may fall back to the White Sox at a bargain. However, if the Sox do re-sign him, I feel Flowers would probably request a trade which would leave us without a viable everyday catcher should AJ get hurt or retire in a year or 2 (he is 36 after all)

Definitely would need to keep Flowers for depth. Im on the "let AJ go" bus, but having Dunn and De Aza as our only leftys in the lineup is a concern. Also, why would we pick up Floyds option to give him away for peanuts? It has been stated on mlbtraderumors that Floyd is the hottest starter being talked about in trades at this point. Take it for what its worth...

Merkin said the Sox could go as high as 109M for payroll, maybe even a tad higher. That's enough to get someone pretty decent. If closers weren't the most overpaid pieces of **** on the planet, I would say invest in one, but ya.

Our pen is pretty good I don't see the point in wasting the money and going cheap on other players. Crain should close though.

I got the Sox at roughly $109 million for 13 players. The rest would be minimum players. So that would be another $6 million. So right now as it stands, the Sox are over that mark if I am correct.

I would have definately given Soria 2 years $8 million with a team option.

I forgot about Peavy in my mind. I just considered him gone with the original payroll figure.

According to Cots, were at 99M thats with out figuring in how much the arbitration eligible players will make. Keeping Gavin Floyd means we probably end up with a payroll of around 112M.

No one has mentioned Curtis Granderson. Yankees are thought to be interested in trading him. How about Floyd, Viciedo, and a mid level spec. CG is a Chicago boy and could be an attraction to fans.

Granderson only has 1 yr left on his contract and his numbers have been greatly improved due to the short wall and air stream in the new Yankee stadium. He'd be a good player here, but wouldn't put up the numbers he's put up in NY. That and his OBP has never really been that great. His OBP has only been above .335 3 times in 9 seasons (7 full, 2 partial)

I would say no to Granderson. And as a side note. Ive pushing the whole upton thing. Has anyone seen his Home and Away splits? Huge difference hitting at a very hitter friendly park in AZ. compared to on the road. Id still like him...but now i think the asking price might be too high.

Too much? I would give up Floyd and Viciedo easily for that!
