A sports video game player??? A Swisher lover? You tell me. Again, more power to those who do.

An adult person who plays video game's does not mean that they are not "grown up"

Which is basically what your hinting at without actually saying it. Some people need to "grow up"

Take for example me. I work full time for the state/federal government. I am a volunteer fire fighter, I run a non for profit animal rescue center, I do side work for extra income. Some nights I want to spend an hour or two playing a video game with some friends and enjoy myself. So I guess since I play video games I need to grow up right?

    Very judgmental and stereotypical.

Sad Sad world we live in today.

Again, like i said more power to you if you do. I mentioned those people who should not play and you know who i am talking about. Based on what you wrote, you are a young single guy without a family and if it floats your boat, then so be it.

People form opinions based on experiences. I have witness people spend hours on end playing those games. Spending way too much just to feed that addiction. I havent met a lot of successful people who spend their waking hours playing those things. But hey, athletes who make millions love them as well so what do i know. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Does that make me judgemental?

Playing video games is just another form of entertainment. No one gets dogged for siting down and watching a film for 2 hours or watching television. The whole mentality that games are for kids should be left in the 90's. You can live a normal productive life with responsibility and even be successful while still playing video games.

I agree that spending hours and hours everyday is a problem but you can say that about almost anything.

Like everything in this world, everything in moderation. Playing 2 hours of a video game a night is no different than watching 2 hours of TV. Playing 5-10 hours?? You probably need to find other hobbies. I say this because it's pretty well shown that living a very sedentary lifestyle leads to a lot of emotional/mental problems. If you're playing 5-10 hours of vidya games a day on top of being at school for several hours, chances are you aren't getting enough exercise.

I have also found the more I exercise, the less I want to play vidya games.

I agree that 5-10 hours a day is ridiculous. As a kid my brother and I were limited to how much we could play. I remember waking up early Saturday morning and sneaking to play with my brother. Limiting our playing time made us spend much more time outside.

Some kids today play at unhealthy levels. You have teens throwing temper tantrums like a 3 year old when something goes wrong in a video game or they can no longer play (I would have never done that). These are the people who spend way too much time and take games too seriously. However they should not be mixed with the people who play for the enjoyment and put the controller down after awhile.

Wow, lot of passion around video games. I didnt say banning video games or making it illegal. Luckily I didnt say anything judgemental about the efforts of legalizing Cannibus (i'll keep my opinion to myself) or another hot topic social issue.

As for moderation, thats an open trap door. To say everything in moderation is ok, its a false premise. Moderation in everything is not always good.

If someone smokes Cannibus daily, in moderation, does it provide any health benefit? No. Stats show they lead to more dangerous drug usage and wrongful spending.

If someone gambles just 2 hours a day, in moderation, but cant afford to pay the bills, how is that helpful?

It was all about context of the purpose of it all. So you dont have an issue with someone standing in line at Walmart at midnight on a work/school night awaiting the release of a video game who fits into one of the categories I outlined a problem? I wasnt pointing out people on this forum who would fall into any of that.....but if the shoe fits...Be proud of it!!!
