3:08PM EDT October 16. 2012 - NHL owners made a pitch Tuesday to save the entire 82-game 2012-13 season by offering players a multi-year deal highlighted by a 50-50 split of hockey-related revenue.

Under the owners' proposal, the season would start Nov. 2 after a week-long training camp. The NHL has previously canceled all games from Oct. 11-24, but Commissioner Gary Bettman said the full season could be played if every team plays an extra game every five or six weeks.

"We have about nine or ten days to get this all put to bed, signed, sealed and delivered in order for this offer to be effective and for us to move forward," Bettman said.

Players' proposals have showed some willingness to reduce their share of hockey-related, but they had been rallying around the belief that they should not have to take a salary cut from individual contracts that they have already negotiated.

Let's hope they get a deal done so we can have a season this year.
