    Raps scouting Spanoulis

The rumor in Europe is that the Toronto Raptors have been scouting Vassilis Spanoulis, even having senior level team officials personally attend his games in Europe.

The rumor is that the Raptors plan to pursue Spanoulis in the summer of 2013, as he is currently in the last year of his contract with the Euroleague club Olympiacos Piraeus. The Raptors, according to the rumors, supposedly would like Spanoulis to replace Jose Calderon.

Spanoulis, a point guard, is largely considered to be the best player on the European continent. He is one of only four players in history to win multiple Euroleague Final Four MVP awards, which is the most prestigious individual award in European basketball.

He's gonna be 31 when he comes here, not the right age IMO we should be getting someone younger , how is his game?

He's one of the best PG's in Europe, he is also the starting PG for the Greece national team who has gave USA troubles in the past.

He is better than Calderon imo. For the right price he would be a very solid back up to Lowry.

so is the other guy. *shrugs*

Calderon already knows the system and if we treat him correctly the rest of the way, he'll be good to as well.

The guys got a serious case of Roko Ukic syndrome. Guy can only go one way.

When I first heard his name, I was thinking it was the guy who flamed out with the Pacers. Wasnt he "one of the best" also? What was his name again?

No harm scouting the guy. Could be a good fit as a backup PG, but I have no idea personally. Never seen him play. I just hope BC doesn't use a big chunk of cap space to go after a question mark like this.

Actually Spanoulis is his own dude, and sucked rockets on houston on his own too.

2013 come along, I would throw my money at Tyreke Evans and Josh Smith.

Forget Derozan, Calderon, and amnesty Amir Johnson (if we need more under the cap to make the signings)

but if we do the signings, then can we use our smallish MLE? I think we can if we didnt pay the luxury tax this coming year i guess - for another free agent?

    Lowry
    Evans ($10M starting)
    Smith ($15M starting)
    Bargnani
    JVal

    Ross
    Klieza (PO)
    Fields
    Ed Davis
    Lucas
    Spanoulis

pretty well rounded I would say and a bunch of bench fodder for practice.

we would be at probably around the $65M mark salary wise.
