Went to the preseason game against Siena. Wow, they look rusty (including Irving). But that's preseason for you! I was sitting there wondering if Waiters was injured because he didn't enter until late second quarter. But that's Scott's way... You've gotta earn it!
Waiters looked unimpressive at first, but so did Zeller (Rookie Jitters). He ended up playing decent in the 4th quarter.

Waiters pulled yesterday for not knowing the plays. Had 2 points.

@SamAmicoFSO: Final: Cavs 86, Bulls 83. Dion Waiters leads everyone w/18 (7-12 FG, 4-4 on 3s). Top that, Harrison Barnes. Kyrie 2-15. Bulls' Hinrich w/14.

Barnes has been solid all along, summer league, pre-season plus a superior athlete. Arch you are one of few on this site that are NBA savvy but I think you're being a bit of a homer over this draft pick. Barnes will prove to be the pick that should have been .

Gilbertsfolly - its all speculation. If you notice the thread title is "Cavs Game Thread". This is where we talk about the games. Please stop your trolling, or at least wait until a few weeks into the season before you start saying Waiters is a bust, and Barnes was the right pick.

If Arch is a homer, then so am I.

I want to attack the "Waiter's is a bust" trolls, but then I'd be being a hypocrite because it is after all, only one game. With that being said, I am extremely impressed.

    My thoughts:

    Kyrie - Strong performance. 29 P, 6 R, 3 A : I couldn't be more excited to see Uncle Drew in his 2nd year.

Waiters - A+ performance for his first NBA game. There were three plays that made me give him this rating. The first came when he picked Bradley Beal's pockets and finished the play with a fantastic dunk. The second play was when he hit a crucial fourth quarter three to regain the momentum for the Cavs. The final play came in the closing seconds of the game when he passed on a contested layup to pull the ball back out, burn a couple extra seconds, and then draw the foul and go to the line. Great way to start his rookie season with some momentum!

Verajao - Wild Thing hustles...period. 12 offensive rebounds? 23 total?! Not to mention 9 assists, 9 points, and 2 blocks. I think he reminded us very quickly of why we missed him when he hurt his wrist last season. I'm glad to see him back on the court.

T.T - Unorthodox, but productive. If he plays his game he will produce a double double every night. He was energetic all night, and displayed tenacity at the end of the game (No one wants to see a player earn a technical foul in the closing seconds of a win, but its still nice to see the energy)

Gee - Eh..took a lot of bad shots, racked up a lot of fouls, and seemed to turn the ball over pretty often. One bright spot was his defense -very aggressive, maybe a bit too aggressive, but it's still nice to see on the first game of the season.

The Wizards were without their two best players, but this shouldn't take anything away from the Cavs. A double digit win at home to start the season - I couldn't ask for anything more.

They haven't played a single game that has counted yet, your a moron if you say that Barnes is better than Waiters. Neither has done anything yet. I like Waiters potential. I cant wait to see some regular season games. I love when people try writing off a rookie and crowning another as the best after a couple preseason games.. What a joke.
