To me it just felt really awkward. Especially that spanking part at the end. Way too out of left field and Sheldon just looked like a clueless idiot.

Also, Shelly is from Texas... Isn't too hard to imagine that his father who was drunk probably spanked him as a child... I didn't really like the spanking part either though... It doesn't really fit into how the show has gone so far.

Apparently Amy (Mayim Bialik) filed for divorce in real life... Couple of bizarre facts I read though:

Huffington Post says Bialik's controversial parenting style was not to blame for the separation. Bialik is a vocal advocate of attachment parenting — which involves co-sleeping, carrying babies in slings frequently and prolonged breastfeeding.

Pretty silly episode. I thought they had made Sheldon's character progress a little bit so that he could understand people's emotions but they kinda reverted back to the premature stages of his social intellect. Not a great episode in my book.
