I'm against using a Madden sim for multiple reasons. As PK said, I think it adds a whole other dimension of having to study imperfect Madden ratings. Also, also Madden simulations are completely random, the best team might now win. You can't predict whether Tom Brady would throw a pick in a Madden simulation or if Ray Lewis would miss a tackle that leads to a long touchdown.

These games are supposed to be about the best team in general winning it all and the randomness of Madden would remove that entirely.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's perfect. You'll get a lot of "I'm voting for Team X, because I think their team is better" or just "Team X" responses. But it's because voters don't take it seriously enough. I think if GMs really embraced this idea and took it seriously, other general voters would follow suit over time and this could work as a legitimate voting method.

The problem with that is that it's GMs who are cheating and ****ing up these games. I don't think there is a perfect voting method or a way to really fix this problem. But a good start would be eliminating GMs who are cheating from ever participating again.

Lulz. I must always be on your mind.

Anyways, on a completely serious note. Here's my responses and following with my ideas.

    A. That forum idea, it's not horrible. Especially since it would lessen pandering to the PSD crowd, like certain hyped players or large fanbases. But it's never going to happen. The first rule of forums is always don't talk about other forums. Especially COMPETING forums. It would have to be a competing one. It just can't happen.

    B. Someone brought up the Madden sim. We don't draft a whole team bros. And you can't fantasy draft anymore. Just won't work. That being said...there is a pro football PC simulator, I used to have it, name evades me. I know Ramon knows it. It's possible to work it something in there. I have an idea on that somewhat later on.

Here's my ideas on improving the game. I think most of all it needs to be shook up. It's getting stale.

Voting: I don't think you eliminate GM voting. It just needs to be less of a factor. My idea is not completely formed but I think if we could allow GM voting to be a third, something outside a third, most likely purely how we have been doing the matchups (sort of, see part B) (this works far better purely for matchups, not playoff voting..which to me isn't the issue..I don't hardly ever have seeding issues), and a "BCS committee." Something like 5 guys or so. Non players, possibly guys who don't have the time. Sean comes to mind instantly. I bet Wiss would do it. We could find others. They could look over the rosters and writeups and give a brief take on their game and the outcome. Think Pregame show analysts. Something like that.

Voting Part B: GM voting should count more than some clown who clicks a button because one team has his favorite player. So a thread would be posted within the RD forum for GM VOTES, one for non GM votes in the main. My one third. I also really like MBT's idea of not allowing just click votes and making them at least say something. But this is PSD. They'll just say dumb ****. What if I say, oh Norm's team, because the other guy has Quitler. Does thta count? Just because he typed a message? Like, where' the line on it is what I'm asking.

I think with the voting of GM's being less this would also reduce the amount of HOLY **** HORRIBLE PICK HE SUCKS fighting. Doesn't eliminate it but reduces since it's not all about influencing them and you're *** kissing other GM's won't get you auto playoffs either.

Voting Part C: The voting threads aren't up near long enough. We should see if a memo could be posted in the the popular sections possibly about votes. A mini idea would be to compile some sort of list of guys we as a group respect in the NFL forum as a whole that we could PM and politely request voting from when matchups were posted. Probably won't happen but we need more legit votes from real dudes.

Voting D: Push the RD start back. Pushing the voting back to after regular season start, how far...for me...farther the better.

Voting E: Not sure if I like this or not but HFA means jack **** in these, it's important in real life. If you are a 1 facing an 8, that shouldn't better but you earned that seed. I think in the MAIN forum voting you should be giving extra votes, maybe just one, maybe 2. I don't know. But HFA means nothing in these games.

Draft: We need to go to slotted drafting. The draft opened 7-25 end closed 8-24. Assume we actually have a full 32 teams. We draft 26 guys. That's 27 and some change picks a day, so we'll say we need 28 picks a day. (We won't have 32 teams, I'm just making an example). You open at 8AM and close at 10PM. That's half our slotted drafting. 8, 8 30, 9, 9 30...unless my math is off wrong. Considering we won't have 32 teams and closer to 20. We'll shorten this a great deal. And You WOULD NOT have the first few rounds slotted like that. That would be old rules. Probably around 6? Maybe 5. You could easily drop a lot of time off this thing. The other forum that I know that has a ton of these switched to this years ago. The other ones always died. It's perfect for someone like me and I think lots of others. You will always know when you will pick, You will know your 26th pick time after your 5th pick. Makes it far easier to be ready to rock and far less wasted time waiting for people to show up.

Obviously the issue with this is sending lists. If you send a list, and those people disappear, we can't make people wait and push back the slotting. I have an idea for this, a way for messages (picks) to be posted at a certain time (not on PSD) but if the guy you wanted is gone (and you would not want to reveal a list) that's going to be an issue.

I'm personally tired of 75% of the posts being people whining about not having someone on, tired of having to VM people, or trying to be the good guy and VM ahead. Tired of people posted over and over about getting a roll going.

Rookies: Put them in. I'm tired of the old "vets" acting like wah wah they get overrated. Rookies make impacts. Despite what they want to believe. Tons of guys live on last years' "hype" in these too and don't repeat. Limit every team to one rookie. Problem solved.

Salary Cap: It sucks. Get rid of it. It's pointless. We're not going on a FA signing bonanza. Sometimes idiots get overpaid and then become boarderline undraftable. It's a pain in the *** to compute, not hard, just a pain in the ***. In the end it's not a deciding factor in anything. We don't need the equalization of a salary cap when we have that in a serpentine draft. We all have equal ability (theoretically) to draft the same amount of talent since drafting high or low should be equaled out. Nobody can go crazy and get FAR better players because they're going to spend more fake money. It's senseless. It added some strategy, but I just don't like it. Waste of time, doesn't matter, we're all on an even playing field already. Nobody can take advantage of a non salary cap to sign more players or anything...not needed.

Twitter/AIM: I wish we could force people to at least have one. If we slot everything, not AS needed but everyone has a damn phone. It's not hard to get twitter and use it. Anyone can figure it out and it works on smart and dumb phones.

Commishes: We need more people with the ability to update the draft threads. Commishes have always done fine but they can't be here every day all day. There's PLENTY of people trustworthy enough to be allowed those privs within the RD forum. It would hurt nothing.

No NBA forum chooseyourownwordhere.IbetyoucanguesswhatImean: If your favorite sport isn't the NFL GTFO. Okay this a joke, but seriously, no NBA forum chooseyourownwordhere.IbetyoucanguesswhatImean.

I have more. One of them would really be awesome for the matchup postings. One is something I've talked about but it'd be easier if I made examples and I'm tired of typing. Kudos to anyone who actually read all that. You have less of a life than I.

I agree 100%. I've never understood why we do the All-Time before the regular re-draft. Switch those two and the timing is perfect.

I gave JF an idea for a new PSD NFL game that I did on another forum that is pretty fun too.

It's better than a RD like this IMO, pretty easily actually and far easier to manage and be active for. Feel like there's a bit more strategy but in the end you end up with the same team just like this just "drafted" another way.

Only game I find interesting is the NFL Mock-Offseason, but that also has a tendency to drag on, and that's one of the biggest problems with these games, they drag on way too long.

I was thinking of turning this more into an auction kind of draft, like we do with the bidding in the mock offseason. Except simply put, team that bids the most money wins the players. We'd lower the cap to like 90 million so it would be more difficult and people couldn't just buy big names and then fill their roster with ****. I think it would be an interesting change up for next year.

I love this idea, but I think we would have to get together and really determine the rules in advance to make sure there isn't any confusion later on. The number of rounds, minimum bids, certain salary restrictions, etc. The minimum salary will be key, because if the cap is set at $90 million and your minimum salary is $1 million, that would be extremely difficult to build a team around. But it has to be something serious, otherwise people will just spend all the cap in the first few rounds and then wait until the final rounds to bid on players for like $5 apiece.

Another idea that could be interesting would be a maximum bad of like $25 or $30 million. That would provide some advantage to teams who draft early on, but not nearly as much of an advantage as a team would normally have in a typical draft. For example, a team with the first pick COULD go maximum bid to get Brady or Rodgers and no other team could bid on them. However, they might not be able to add many more impact players later in the game, so it could really damage their chances to win.
