Red Wings sign Carlo Colaiacovo

A day before the NHL is expected to shutter because of a labor dispute, the Detroit Red Wings settled for adding Carlo Colaiacovo to their defense.

The deal is for two years and $5 million.

"It's a great feeling," Colaiacovo said. "It's the place from Day 1 where I wanted to be. It's Hockeytown, it's the Detroit Red Wings, it's a place, Joe Louis Arena, which I absolutely love playing in. First-class organization. It's a roster full with world-class players. I'm just glad to be a part of that."

I always liked Carlo's personality, even if he did seem to get hurt a lot.
