I agree Dekker if anything Rick would start and Smyly would be stretched out during spring training and be the second LH reliever out of the bullpen. I guess throwing side secessions whenever needed. He did come out of the pen and perform on the highest stage the playoffs.

I should have been more specific. I don't think it is best to trade Porcello now, wait until the trade deadline.

We need a LH RP. Smyly is a LH. Put him in the bullpen for now.

I agree. I think we should keep Porcello cause he might have a break out season and if he doesn't then trade him in July. But because there is so many teams interested in him right now someone is going to offer a deal that DD can not refuse. So I think he will be traded this offseason.

His value is highest right now. He will be traded now. I like Rick as our 5th man if we didn't have someone else better, but Smyly is better, and he is a southpaw unlike the rest of our rotation. Rick is just the odd man out. It happens in this business and he understands that better than any of us.

Smyly is a starter, whether in Toledo or Detroit. He is our 6th starter at this point and needs to stay stretched out if needed.

Link? I haven't see "team officials" say anything more than teams inquiring on Porcello. As it sits now they will both battle it out for the #5 spot.

IF we don't trade Porcello before opening day its a safe bet he won't be the one going to Toledo with his $4-5MM contract

They probably get a solid/decent player. For some reason a lot of hype is still around Porcello, mainly because he's only 24 I think, but I don't think he's anything more than a #5.
