Yea Im glad you asked Neo because I was under the impression Hicks was drafted by the Saints based on CFL credentials, but I see now he only was drafted by a CFL team, but played only at the Canadian equivalent of our collegiate level.

But I see now he was initially brought in to play at LSU but it didnt work out BUT proving his talent is true he dominated the Canadian college level Football arena being the best D Lineman out of all the schools there.

So I thought he played in CFL and we drafted him based off that but he didnt.

Starting to think we need to add K to our draft discussion and scouting.

You guys see the K that Rams got in the draft as the old saying goes

"He is a beast" - Every sports fan has said this at least a few times in their life.

As in who? Oh Jimmy Graham! yea he's a beast.

Gotta be careful with drafting kickers again though. We don't wanna end up with another Taylor Mehlhaff, especially with all of the other needs we have. All we have to do is sign John Kasay back if Hartley can't handle his *****

Yea the decision scale for me tilts more towards what you are saying about the K priority.

But if the other needs start to decrease because of players progressing by the End of the year on Defense, then I think K moves closer on the priority list.

I'm thinking if Hicks continues to impress Spags then I think from what Spags is saying he'd be good with Hicks and Bunk at DT starters.

At CB I think we have our starters shored up and our Nickel in JPatrick.

SS for me is a need not that Harper is horrible to me I just think that positions role in defense has risen to a higher level. And besides I like Harper becoming a specialist in packages more so than a base defense starter.

LB yes I think we could use a quality young gun here.

I like our DEs even though we dont have a stud pass rusher I'm thinking Jordan could get better and Martez may just develop at that position plus Jumior Gallete I like the future there.

At FS Jenkins to me is solid enough theres no fire there to me to warrant making it a draft priority

QB I feel is a need Chase is a quality backup but I do not like him as a franchise QB the guy we depend on every Sunday. Nah.

WR I actually think we are good here once Toon gets healthy Morgan looks like he is growing we still have the Vets etc.

TE just find a good blocking TE somewhere Jimmy needs little help making enough plays at that position.

RB If anything we could think about trading Ingram IF anything.

    OT is a need.

    I think C is a borderline need.

    OG we are good.

So I see the priority list being like this

    1. SS
    2. OT
    3. LB
    4. QB
    5. K

Safety, I could definitely see with Eric Reid. All of LSU's linebackers are freshman this year though

    1. SS
    2. OT
    3. LB
    4. QB
    5. K
Here's where I see the priority:

    1) DE
    1a) OT
    3) DT
    4) S
    5) OLB

I see Defensive end and Offensive tackle as almost equivalent needs. I would have less than no problem drafting at either one of these positions in rounds one and/or round 2. In fact, I think that our 1st round pick WILL be the Best Available Player out of these positions, especially if we're picking somewhere in the Top 15, which our record so far would suggest.

Defensive Tackle is an issue now, even with Akiem Hicks performing well for the most part. Even if those two end up as our starters as you suggest, I think that Spags, Loomis, and Payton will want to upgrade the depth here and potentially get a new starter and keep Hicks or Bunkley coming off the bench. Keeping these guys fresh is important to keeping a stout defense throughout the game (especially the 4th quarter). If Sedrick Ellis walks (and I don't see him taking a big pay cut to stay), then this becomes an even bigger need.

I agree, OT and DE are definitely our biggest needs. We have absolutely zero pass rush and our tackles have been horrible in pass pro. Spags also loves his depth on the D Line, so I could see us adding at least 2 or 3 new players at DT/DE. I think for sure we will draft a pass rushing DE in the top 2 rounds.

Couldn't agree more. Think they'll look in both free agency and the draft for help along the D-Line for sure and I think the rookie has to come from the first two rounds, especially if we've got a high pick for one of these impact guys

Was it Montgomery that gave the great half time speech someone posted about in here?

About time I get into this discussion....

Our biggest need, BY FAR, is a DE. We need a pass rusher, a JPP, Aldon Smith type of guy. Someone who will make a ****ing play. I'm sick of Will Smith, we need to cut that old piece of ****. I'm in love with Cam Jordan but he's a run stuffer, we all knew that's what he was coming out of college, a 3-4 DE. But he's slimmed down and you can see he's playing well.

For those of you who say we've got CB problems, think about this for a second; If we can't generate a pass rush and the opposing QB has 5-7 seconds every single play in the pocket, do you guys not understand that NO corner in this world can stick with a WR for that long? I can ****ing make a catch on Revis if my QB had 7 seconds in the pocket (Cassel and Rodgers had an ETERNITY in the pocket).

Our 2nd biggest need is definitely an OT, Bushrod is garbage and Strief sucks. They did hold up versus Green Bay and our offense did look really good but we need a younger guy. I'm also very disappointed in not only Charles Brown, but Matt Tennant too. I thought both those guys would be a apart of our o-line for a long time.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys but are you guys all susceptible on drafting an LSU DE? I know you're mostly all LSU fans but the last few guys to come out (Dorsey, Tyson Jackson) have been very disappointing. I love what I see from Sam Montgomory, Barkevious Mingo but you guys haven't mentioned Corey Lemonier. I know the list Neo provided was earlier and he probably thought we'd be drafting in the teens but the way we're going now, we better finish with a top 10 pick! Hopefully we get our 2nd back too and Goodell has pity on us.

3rd biggest need is DT. Sedrick Ellis never amounted to his true ability and probably won't be re-signed. Akeem Hicks has been the most impressive DT (imo). Bunkley has been invisible.

I don't think S is a HUGE need. I think we're good with Jenkins-Harper, once we get a better pass rush, I think the defensive backs will do better under spagnuolo in his system.

Lastly, I think that if Matt Barkley is there, we have to take him. Let's all be realistic here, we probably won't be picking in this kind of position at any other time in another while. Why not sit him behind Drew for a few years, let him learn from the best and not miss a beat once Drew retires.

To me, WR is a bigger need than CB, S or OLB. I think we're missing a playmaker at that position, I'm excited for Nick Toon next year but I think we're fine with Jabari, P-Rob, Corey White, Johnny Patrick at CB, Jenkins-Harper at S.

How disappointing/invisible has Martez Wilson been? I had high hopes for him, thought he'd be a monster playing DE in Spags' system.

    Anyways, just my two cents.

My first choice is Sam Montgomory, I just hope he's not a bust like Dorsey or Tyson Jackson

With our 1st pick I want OLB- Jarvis Jones from Georgia! If our record lower the Saints out if the Top 5, I want the Best OT available!

•DE is already stacked with young talent with Cam/Galette/Wilson leading the way, we need a better DLine coach! Bring in another DE onto the roster under Bill Johnson's coaching will have the Saints drafting a 1st RD pick to sit on the bench/in rotations under "no guidance from players & coaches" (like Cam) and he will struggle lacking the correct techniques of getting off the blocks!
We need a Dline Coach, not another DE to sit under "NO" coaching

    Pending where we pick(Top 5)
    OLB- Jarvis Jones
    OT
    DB
    DT
    WR/athlete
    ILB
    {Saints only lacks dept on defense at LB, DT, & DB}
*trading down or trading a player to get a 2nd RD pick

I would even draft South Carolina RB- Marcus Lattimore and trade RB- Ingram for picks
    - not bcuz Ingram isn't good, RB- Marcus Lattimore is just better than Ingram & Pierre combined and he would also take away our predictability on offense. RB- Marcus Lattimore is a 3down back like a Marshall Faulk/Matt Forte

I see Montgomery as a straight up DE. Mingo looks more like the 3-4 OLB pass rushing type. LSU has him fall back into a LB in their 4-3 on occasion
