    Gillis speaks

GMMG on luongo trade: "We're one the league's wealthiest teams. We don't have fire sales."

GMMG: we've had solid proposals but it's not what we're trying to accomplish.

Q: do you have to make the team better now? GMMG: we have to make the team different.
    One more:

Canucks working to sign Alex and Alex to extensions before Sept. 15. Also believe theyre still in on Shane doan

Making the team different would be fine. That means more scoring and toughness right? If it just means more toughness he's dreaming. Something tells me he's still convinced we're an offensive juggernaut.

Doan only scored three goals in the playoffs last year so it looks like he doesn't mean we're improving our scoring. Don't get me wrong, he'd be great on any team at a good price, but hopefully Gillis' plan isn't hinging on one player who may or may not turn him down. I like Doan but don't see him as a saviour for the team.

I think our scoring will go up in the playoffs. Shortened season can only help.
