Expect the Boston Bruins to announce a new contract extension for Tyler Seguin soon (before week is up). In the $5.3M-$6M aav range.

Over the past few days there have been talks that Seguin wants to get something done before the CBA agreement or NHL lockout happens. There is no question that he's the future of the team and to sign him for 6 years would be amazing.

Under $6 million per is a fantastic job by PC. I think Tyler realized that he could either get paid or take a small cut and continue to have talent around him and he made the right choice. Had he played this season and taken that next step he could have easily gotten $6.5+ per year.

Why's that? They're at the exact same spot.. Seguin chose to accept a little bit of a paycut compared to Hall.

I expected Seguin to be under T. Hall a little bit in salary, I'm pumped they signed him but looking at stats, Hall has been the more productive player and he has played in 29 less games than Seguin has....

Hall: 126 Games, 49 goals, 46 assists, 95 points, 0.75 PPG
Seguin: 155 Games, 40 goals, 49 assists, 89 points, 0.57 PPG

On the PP:

Hall has 21 PPG to Seguin's 6 PPG

Their careers are obviously just starting, its going to be great to see Seguin flying around the garden for at least 7 more years, but i wouldn't be amazed we got him at a better price than Hall b/c Hall is the better player right now and does deserve a higher contract. IMO

Tough to really compare because they play two different roles for their team

Hall has gotten 18+ minutes a night every year. Seguin got 12 minutes a night his rookie year and then 16 this past year. I'm more of a per TOI guy and when you look at them they are basically equal.

TOI/G - Hall (47:26) & Seguin (53:08)
TOI/A - Hall (50:29) & Seguin (46:43)
TOI/Pt - Hall (24:16) & Seguin (25:06)

I'd say Seguin is the more completely player but right now Hall is the better offensive threat. Had Hall not gotten hurt he'd probably have back to back 30 goal seasons.
