I'd love to see the link to this "ranking".

I remember seeing a tweet about it (maybe someone from BA??) about how we're probably in the teens. But then you have guys like KLaw saying we really didnt put a dent into our system. I think a reasonable ranking is anywhere from 7-10.

If you pull off a blockbuster trade for 3 former all stars, and you're still in the top 10 or close to it, then you're doing ok.

Law said they are still definitely in his top 10 so i would awesome the difference among other wont be that different.

We lost only 2 prospects that contributed to that great farm. I doubt we slipped more than 10 spots because of it

I gotta agree with this, I think we're probably sitting around the 8-10 range. The biggest criticism against the farm is the lack of MLB-ready talent but the sheer depth of high-upside guys is enough to keep us in the top 10 imo.

I think we only drop significantly if we trade D'Arnaud.

We lost a lot of depth this past season in the Santos/Happ trades. Molina was a top 10 spec in our system this time last year according to most sites iirc, and we also gave up 4 specs in the 11-20 range for Happ/Lyon. Hech/Nicolino/Marisnick were all in the top 10 at the start of the season too.

That's 8 top 20 specs traded away this past calendar year, which will take a toll on any farm. Good news is that we kept a lot of our high ceiling guys in TdA,Sanchez,Synder, and Gose. We still have a top 10 farm imo, it's just not nearly as deep as it was the past couple years.

But add in the fact that TdA and Gose will no longer be prospects by mid season this year, and you are left with a farm that is practically void of high end position players. Tons of pitching but it's also far away. Nice to have a top 10 pick at least to add to the mix, but our ranking will definitely be taking a hit this upcoming year, which is fine as long as the big club is doing well.

I really think we should consider trading JP plus for Dickey depending on what the plus is.. I think Dickey is the real deal and should at least be a 3 starter on our team

1) I doubt Tbay does that, even though they need a catcher

2) I doubt the Royals take Buerhles contract. Maybe Hellickson + Sierra + whoever

Would defiantly take more than JPA but don't get carried away.
